Congratulations on impressing a dragon here at Ista Weyr! We hope that she is everything that you could want in a lifemate, though this inspiration is just a guideline for how to play your dragon. You are not required to follow all or any of it. The dragon is /yours/. Members of SearchCo have put many hours into the creation of your dragon, and way too much philosophical thought and quote researching, and we are excited to see how you develop the personality in your own, unique way. —Lyria & Kia (Your adoring insp. writers who consumed what was probably a bit too much caffeine for their own good health to have this inspiration written for you.)

Clutching Message:

Miyakath strains to bring forth the stubborn Floating Lanterns Spirit Egg into the world. It joins the sands like it belongs to them, ethereal; the great golden dragon moves on. She's more to do than watch the ghosts of one egg.

Floating Lantern Spirit Egg:

This egg is dark in overall color, near black in places but swirled with deep blue and green like the deep, deep waters of a river at night. Somnolent umber tones highlight the upper edges of the pattern, seeming to dance like the reflection of a candle's weak flame. Ghostly gray floats in the depths, hard to see unless you're at just the right angle, fading in and out of view even when you are. Among the ripples are fiery blooms of scarlet and near-metallic gold, points of light against the inky shade that almost blends in with the Hatching Ground's black sands. The guiding fires fascinate the eye, drawing an observer from one to the next with barely a pause for breath. Only they know where they are going.

Hatching Message:

Floating Lantern Spirit Egg, still for far too long, trembles rather violently. One resolute dragonet is going to find her way out of this little round cage, and nothing's going to stop her. Grey-green stands out in contrast of the egg as the shell gives way to reveal one determined and slightly dazed Mystic Lunar Green Dragonet.

Mystic Lunar Green Dragonet:

Mystery illuminates her hide of palest jade, settling with the feather light touch of thought to gild prominent bony hips and shoulders. Light itself plays along her rounded ridges before falling into harsh shadows of graduating gray-green. Sharing a strange symmetry, her serpentine neck mirrors her tail, delightfully united despite the rounded curve of belly that separates them. Sage clings to her throat to climb its way up to muzzle, blossoming into brilliant emerald that speckles her face across nose and eye ridges. Dreary moss hangs 'bout her back to dreamily settle about her haunches in a dusky clover. Downwards, the shadows spiral, growing darker and more dense until culminating in the cold depths of empty space on her talons.

Impression Message:

Mystic Lunar Green Dragonet finds herself leaning over nearly sideways on the sands as she finally regains full clear function. She tilts her head upways again, but there is hardly any more movement after that other than the few rushing steps taken forward - this is one thing that does not require thought. Unmisting eyes reveal a delighted whirling blue as the green sets her sights upon one certain alpha female going by the name of Rielle.

Personal Impression Message:

A dazed, confused light touches your mind briefly, leaving before it was ever there. However, it is not gone long, before a soft brilliant glimmer is allowed shine upon your consciousness. « I knew I would find you, Rielle, » Lifting you up past sands and sky, sending you to the stars in a glissando of piano keys and sound, these thoughts would gladly let you stay there in the height of knowledge, but for now must let you back down. A whisper follows, redolent with the faint smell of books and radiant colors of oils blossoming on canvas, « I'm Tifaryth, Rielle. I will be yours, and you will be mine. »

Name Inspiration:

Tifaryth is actually a Hebrew term. It is related to the 10 Dimensions of the Kabbalah. These are referred to as the "Sephiroth" which we hope you will recognize as a reference to Final Fantasy 7. We looked to find out about Sephiroth, and came across the true Hebrew meaning of it. Further searching we found the name of the 10 dimensions, the emanations of light, one of them being Tifaret, and we thought it sounded gorgeous for your dragon.

Egg Inspiration:

Symbolism of the markings: red lanterns are said to guide the spirits to and from our world.

Japanese Obon Festival, very much like the American Halloween, but with less candy and more ghosts.

Description Inspiration:

"Beauty depends on size as well as symmetry. No very small animal can be beautiful, for looking at it takes so small a portion of time that the impression of it will be confused. Nor can any very large one, for a whole view of it cannot be had at once, and so there will be no unity and completeness." —Aristotle

Tifaryth is the moon. She tends toward gray and yellow-green, the colors and textures of a full moon the inspiration of her coloring. Her size and features are based almost wholly on the above quote by Aristotle. She is nearly perfectly symmetrical. One eyeridge is not in any way higher than the other eye ridge. And her size: she is not too big, and not too small, but a vision of unity and completeness.

Mind Voice:

Tifaryth has a very specific mind voice, being the scholar that she is. She speaks carefully in a mid-range alto, rarely ever giggly or giddy. Her mind voice brings with it the faint smell of books. Old books, new books, well used books, dusty books. In fact dusty books in particular, and yes, there is a noticeable difference in the scent of books, tend to make their appearance when Tifa is upset about something, tickling your nose and senses until you are just on the verge of sneezing… but not quite.

Her voice has the undertone of a piano, and it is drawn mostly off of Mozart's simple yet entrancing Fur Elise. But a few notes can convey so very many things, and the piano has so many different dimensions and geniuses to compose for it that it seemed the perfect fit for your philosophical dragon's mindset. Blooms of orange and yellow against a dark indigo sky will of course accompany any rare impassioned Forte-piano statements. Visions of Tifaryth's voice is inspired by Van Gogh's oil painting: The Starry Night. I'm sure you've seen it. It is the deep dark blue sky with swirls of green and yellow swirling their way across and the shining of bright stars.

"He who conquers others is strong; He who conquers himself is mighty." —Lao-Tzu

Physically, while Tifaryth tends to be a bit smaller than your average green dragonet, she seems to have a personality that makes her appear much larger. She may voice the thought to you that spending that extra bit of time in the egg must have stunted her growth a little, so truly she is much bigger, she just doesn't measure out that way. Strength is something she works to build. When it comes time for the dragons to stand and flap their wings to build strength she will not tire of the exercise and become bored, but rather use any spare time, as long as there is space, to just continue flapping those wings, for the more strength she builds, the sooner she will able to lift herself and you off of the ground and fly to the stars.

Her size is no detriment to her abilities in any way whatsoever, but it is her shading and shadowing that truly makes her a dragon of beauty and mystery, much like the moon itself. You may note the interplay of shadow and light creating millions of subtle markings, and as the seasons change, you may notice the prominence of her shading differ. In spring, it may be the brilliant greens atop her that stand out, while winter brings the grays and mid-tones to distinction, autumn the darkest tones, and summer any yellow and those very green greens.

"Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." —Ralph Waldo Emerson

Your Tifaryth is a born philosopher, a strong green that defies the norm and does her own thing, but not without taking you with her. She does not believe that following others is particularly the way to go. She may agree with an idea but she is no lamb to graze with the herd. Rather, she is an alpha wolf, making her own way. It will tend to bring out any hidden leadership skills you may have, Rielle, but she can't do it on her own. In fact she may need some holding back on occasion. Ambition is good, but it is not always the best thing. She may be wise, but sometimes, just sometimes, you'll have to have her see the other side of things.

"Wit is educated insolence." —Aristotle

Tifaryth is hardly a dragon of ice and stone. She is the moon. She is knowing, intelligent, and wise, but that does not mean she is without humor. However, humor to her is not something silly. It is wit, and as described by Aristotle, educated insolence. She should not allow you to be ever too serious, nor ever terribly silly. Silliness is a hardly tolerable thing, except possibly from you, her lifemate, her soulmate. And what age group tends to silliness? Children. You being a nanny. Eh…All of those kidlets running around are not Tifaryth's favorite thing. She may be able to stomach them, but it will be with disdainful looks and she will avoid them with possible cost. She certainly does not consider herself a jungle gym to be climbed upon by those little bratlings. You'll have to work on getting her used to that, Rielle.

"To love someone deeply gives you strength. Being loved by someone deeply gives you courage." —Lao Tzu

Tifa is strong and brave and smart, but she could not be so without you, Rielle. Your approval means oh so much to her, so it may be up to you to get used to the way she is eager to do so much. She's going to want to see everything, know everything, learn everything she can in anyway, but you have to help. In return, it is up to her to help you in any way that you request. Her courage, wit, and ambition would be lent to you without a second thought when you require. You and Tifaryth together, Rielle, are a perfect match, complimentary in thought and personality, but you are each the lost puzzle piece in each other's heart.

"To the query, "What is a friend?" his reply was "A single soul dwelling in two bodies." —Aristotle

"There are no days in life so memorable as those which vibrated to some stroke of the imagination." —Ralph Waldo Emerson

Imagination plain and simple, that's your Tifaryth. Never will you have a flight that's even similar to the last. She is one green that will use her imagination to its fullest extent when making those males chase her. She's got a passing preference for those blue fellows but every now and again a brown will take her fancy. Favorites will have nothing to do with her flights so if you've a weyrmate and he's caught before don't hold your breath for his chances this time unless he's quick on the wing.

You will have very little warning when Tifareth is proddy. Her personality will change but a little, as she will try to suppress such mood swings that come with proddiness. However, she may become a tad cross, and snap, possibly, at you and others. She's no dainty flirt, that's for sure, but when it comes the day she's going to go up, well, you know, she simply can't help but being a bit of a tease.

No meek miss is she when it comes to fighting thread. There's work to be done and this is in her blood. Any tangle of thread in her flight path is fair game, even if it's dangerously close. Most would skip between to alleviate this threat to themselves, not Tifareth, she'll be fighting to get that bit just as much as the rest. You're her voice of reason here, the only reason she'll back down is for fear of injury to you, her other half. This she tends to forget in the heat of a Fall, that you like her can be hurt by those falling menaces.
