"When I am not this hunchback that you see, I sleep beneath the golden hill." —Leonard Cohen's 'Avalanche'

Clutching Message:

Dhiammarath's hide shivers as yet another contraction forces her to pause. When the pain subsides, she concerns herself with finding just the right spot to lay the egg. Pain shudders through her again as her belly visibly contracts, as if the egg would shatter her. She finds a good spot well away from the rest of the clutch, and finally lets the birth of the egg come. Pain and relief mingle together as finally the egg emerges. At once dark and light, it shimmers mysteriously before the gold quickly covers it up.

Hatching Message:

Shattered Lands of Norrath Egg gives a shake and a shimmy, jerking this way and that ay, barely avoiding the other eggs moving around it. Finally, after one large jump, it comes crashing to the ground and a jagged line splits the egg into two halves. A blue dragonet takes a few woozy steps from the eggshells, almost looking like he is limping. After a couple more steps, he does a half-trip and then steadies himself. Ha-ha! He meant to do that, of course, all in his game plan. With a jaunty throw of his head, swirling eyes wide and amused, Nebulously Cloaked Mirage Blue Dragonet saunters off with more agility then a baby dragonet ought to have.

Nebulously Cloaked Mirage Blue Dragonet:

A massive muzzle starts him off, azure moving from almost grey nostrils, fading quickly over his eye ridges and head knobs into it's true form, that of a midnight blue. Splashing down his fairly short neck, a canvas of night sky is painted across his hide, the navy blues stretching across his hindquarters and forelegs, minute flecks of copper are the stars at dawn upon his haunches; hard to be found but that may hold meaningful patterns. His wings, the taunt muscles holding the cerulean shaded sails high, flow easily into a strong back that is lined with a row of petite, tightly wound neck ridges, and painted to an almost ebony hue. Shades of dark sandy beige ripple across his underbelly, the two colors intermingling at the borders. A thick tail finishes him off, the colors changing slightly to a more indigo tinge, as if the sea itself was coming to meet the night sky.

Impression Message:

Nebulously Cloaked Mirage Blue Dragonet pauses in his trek, plopping his hind quarters down and letting his gaze slowly slide over every candidate on the sands. Someone out there holds his ticket, and he's almost positive as to who it is. After a while longer, he gets back to his feet and trots with his head held high over to Jiatra, where he then lowers his body in what looks like a bow. Aaah. Here she was! His golden ticket.

Personal Impression Message:

Quiet. Not a noise can be heard. All the sounds of the sands and the galleries have suddenly gone deaf. The darkness within your mind is almost too much to bear, until a soft sigh is heard. It's the sound of relief with just a twinge of happiness. « I thought I'd never find you. » A voice says, colors of happy, bright greens and blues dash about in dizzy circles. « It's just you and me now. We're partners, now and forever. Jiatra and Sahruth. Hmm I rather like the sound of that. » An echoing laugh resounds in your head as two finally become one.

Name Inspiration:

Goodness gracious me Jiatra! If poor Dobion had a dollar for every name that he found that didn't sit well with Yasmine, he would be a ka-trillionaire. But finally, after tens of thousands of years of searching through billions and zillions of names, we found perfection. Your needs were this: An Arabian or Hebrew name, a couple U's, no I's, and you had mentioned something about deserts in the night and whatnot. So, combining all this we found the name of your lifemate: Sahruth. Purdy isn't it? Sahruth is derived from the Arabian word Sahra meaning 'Desert'. We, well, mostly super smart Trik, tweaked it up a little, and finally managed to get it to what it is today. There's a couple different ways of pronouncing this, those being:
o 'Sah-ruh-th'
o 'Sah-wrath'
o And finally 'Sah-roooth'
But say it any which way that tickles your pickle; he's your dragon, you have the last word! By the way, you say it like the last way (sah- roooth) and Dobion will personally come over there and knock you around. Yeah.
(Jia-note: Sah'ruth. There's a stop after the sah, and the 'r' is rolled. Sah'u'rrooth.)

The name 'Nebulously Cloaked Mirage Blue Dragonet' means a whole lot of things. Firstly, we chose to use a mirage because it incorporated both our themes, that being the desert and the fact that Willy Wonka is such a tricky, stealthy person. The thing I remember most from the movie is how he would just appear and disappear without warning. Creepy! Nebulously is a long, very cool word that has two meanings as well. Firstly, it means cloudy, misty hazy and such. But it also means without form, limits or rules, a perfect description of Wonka himself.

Willy Wonka: [singing] There is no life I know to compare with pure imagination. Living there, you'll be free if you truly wish to be.

Description Inspiration:

Alright, first off, Sahruth has a nice big muzzle, which is what you asked for! We tried to describe him as if he was on the borders of everything, those being the sea, the sky, and the land, the earth being shown as the desert sands on his underbelly. Ever seen Hidalgo? Well, you should, it inspired the description! Anyways, there's a scene at the end of the race, where there's just desert, and then all of a sudden, this massive body of water, as if someone just dropped a sea in the middle of this sand pit. Think of that wonderful contrast, with the blue sky and sea, and then the sands, but at /night/. The little speckles of copper are like the lanterns at night, but the fact that they might be put where they are for a reason, even if you can't figure it out right away, also ties into the mysterious Mr. Wonka theme. Spiffy, no?

Mind Voice:

Sahruth has a fairly high, but loud mind voice, the kind of noise that one just can't ignore. It's wavering just enough to be soprano sounding, but it's rich, rumbling tone makes you think otherwise. When he speaks, comfortably dark colors spread into your mind, the ebonies, midnight blues and dark forest greens seem to be safe enough, but there's strange undercurrents in his voice, like something lurking along the edge of your sight, where you know it's there, but you can't see it. A sweet taste lingers in your mouth when Sahruth is bespeaks you, but there's a slightly metallic flavour behind there too, like you just sucked on a coin coated in sugar.

An almost overpowering sent occurs as well, something that will probably take a bit of getting used to at first, that being the smell of deep heavy rain after a dry season. The sent of desperately dry earth greedily soaking up the moisture teases under your nose, the sound of a dull plopping, of big droplets hitting the muddy ground, echoing in your ears, sounding very far off indeed. This smell also ties into the feeling you get when Sahruth rumbles in your brain. A slight jump in your gut happens when he's there, and you feel refreshed, like a field after Turns without a good soaking.

When Sahruth is angry, things are intensified. His voice gets louder than it already is, the rumbling shuddering almost violently through your body as a result of volume. The deep, safe colors get a menacing tone to them, streaks of bright crimson intruding rudely onto the dark pallet, bolts of yellow flashing across it like lightning. The taste of metal remerges as an almost overpowering taste, the sugary sweetness just a fleeting flavour. What was once a gentle rain is now an antagonistic thunderstorm, and you can feel that strange, hidden creature right beside you. But no matter how angry Sahruth gets, at you or anyone else, have no fear; never in a million years would he think of hurting you.

Physicalities:

Aaah, your Sahruth is defiantly an odd one, this being shown more so when he is young. He'll be a rather big dragon that is, once he gets older, but as he grows his limbs will be far from proportionate. At times his forelegs will be longer then his hind legs, or his wings will outgrow the rest of his body and sometimes drag a bit on the ground, meaning you'll have to be extra careful, Jiatra, to oil and wash these faster growing areas.

"Sahruth! The hide on your wing tips seem to be rubbed raw! What'd you do?"
« Oh, well, just took a little stroll over some rocks I found. My wings kept getting in the way, so I just let them hang, is all. »

Though he will, one day, come into his own and get past his awkward young stage of tripping over his talons or wings. And when that day comes, you'll have quite a lovely vision of a blue dragon on your hands. He'll be a rather long dragon, with a long, whip-like tail that has a rather odd circled tip of his tail. Sahruth won't exactly be an extremely handsome dragon, not to say he will be ugly to behold. Far from that, he has a different kind of pizazz that will make greens look his way. His lovely hide will be the first that catches their swirling eyes, but then his rather odd physique will make them intrigued. Yes, yes, he /will/ be a lovely vision, but it will be because of how his is put together.

Sahruth's legs will seem to always be a bit longer then really needed, but they match his tail nicely. Neck, as well, will tend to be a bit larger as well, sticking out just a bit more then normal and then ending with his triangular shaped head. But his shoulders will normally be squared back and head held high as he is ever walking or flying. Only his body, which is perfectly muscled in all the right places, won't seem a little abnormal.

All in all, he's a special kind of dragon, in both appearance, and personality. And, even better, he's all yours Jiatra!

Personality:

Saruth is your squeaky to the proverbial dog toy. He's the text to your book! The apple of your eye! The - Alright, you get the point.

He's a madman, a non-conformist and chalked full of what some would call "insanity". He likes to just say he's "Full of Character." Saruth is just about the only dragon around who can tongue tie you with his imagination and trick you into thinking what he says is true by ways of pure cleverness. His thoughts and ideals are never backed up with truthful answers sometimes, however he loves to produce dreams of things that aren't real, but are. Behind those un-true lies that make many laugh, he's a sophisticated and smart man who could shock others with certain equations and theories that he has found or made up.

"Say, Saruth, How many Riders does it take to change a glow basket?"
« Well…It's 93% perspiration, 6% common sense, 4% evaporation, and 2% Wherry teeth. So maybe just two riders. »
"That's 105 percent!"
« Precisely. »

When it comes to you being with Saruth, He's more then protective of you at first when being a weyrling. Consider him to be your faithful watch dog. He takes caution when meeting others he hasn't yet met and may be somewhat of an inquisitive jerk, so to speak. He takes stride making sure you are comfortable around people yet he does give them a chance. But when that chance is broken? Beware!

« Who are these people, my love? They obviously want something. Everyone wants something! »

As you two grow together, he will not only become your faithful companion, but also a fine mentor to what you think and do. His approval is of the utmost importance and he will make sure that you do only what you feel in your heart is right. Not only will he push you to do the right thing, but he will also be more then adventurous to make you do things you've never tried before! He's more then than the average stubborn mule when you start to disagree with him.

"Saruth, I don't know if I want to jump off the tree branch into the water…"
« But my pet! Oh, you should never, never doubt what nobody is sure about. »

Qualities of bitterness run rampant through his veins. He's not exactly the most ‘nicest’ dragon known to Pern, but even to those he harbors disdain towards, he's a complete gentlemen; to a strict point that is. He cloying nature is coated with sarcasm so his words may come as a surprise to some. Think Willy Wonka! He may be charming with his words, but his tongue is the barrel of a gun.

« Why Kwazarenth, Why ever would I say that you look fat in those straps? I would never say such a thing! Rather you look pleasantly plump! »

We didn't really want to over-do his personality because we wanted to leave some of it up to you to mingle and play with. That is why you may be like, "Why is there so little?" But we'd rather have a dragon you'd /want/ to mess around with!

Flights:

Sahruth becomes incredibly aggressive when there are greens in the air, and you'll have to keep him from getting into scraps with the other males. He's stealthy, devious, and he'll create a massively complex plan to somehow beat out all the other contenders. What he lacks in brawn he makes up for in smarts! Other blues and browns may feel a little ripped off and possibly angry when Sahruth manages to get the green, considering his maneuvers are well, less than gallant. He usually will only blood one herdbeast, if that, because his plans make full use of timing and position instead of brute strength. He'll strike hard, fast and usually get the girl.
