Rielle Is Searched

Living Cavern
The smooth, rounded walls cavern sweep upward from an oval base, two dragonlengths long and one wide, large enough to seat every member of the Weyr at mealtimes. The soft blackness of the lava which forms these caverns swallows glowlight, so shelves for glowbaskets abound, dotting the walls every three or four paces and casting gentle greenish light toward the sparkles of gold volcanic glass embedded in the ceiling. Ancient, lustrous tables run along the axis of the cavern, and at the far end rests the raised dais and high table, where Weyrleaders and honored guests eat during formal occasions. Behind the high table, the Weyr's symbol is embedded into stone: a smoking mountain in black on… [look closer]
Perched near the food are twenty-six firelizards.

M'er shimmies, shakes, and boogies in from the Southeastern Bowl.

Tasi wanders into the caverns, leaving behind a concerned grumbling from Aeokaith. She sighs, explaining to a baker near the door who appears to have heard the sound, "He hates it when I'm out of sight, right now." A tolerant roll of the eyes is typical, it's been Tasi's favorite face since she first learned she was pregnant. And with that, she's off to flop eagerly, heavily, into her usual favorite chair, only then looking around for people she knows.

Frown upon his face, M'er shuffles in. "Stop it, Suith. You'll be fine, I'm sure," he mutters darkly under his breath, "Yes, yes, I know. Just don't go around her, okay?" He sighs and peers around the Living Cavern and smiles as he notices a very pregnant Tasi. "Hello, there," he offers her, sidling over to a chair near the WingSecond, "How are you doing today?"

Rielle peers around, relaxing in the living cavern before her nanny duty goes into effect. Ahh, the sweet pseudo-silence of morning. After all, everything seems quiet after the deafening rumble of a group of kidlets. Sipping her klah, first mug in a week and so the nanny is particularly relishing it today - she gives an impassive glance around the cavern, before spotting Tasi. Ooh! After wobbling up from her seat, she scoots over by Tasi and the approaching M'er. " Good morning," she greets pleasantly, smiling at them both and giving a short bow of respect, before sliding also into a seat near Tasi. "How're you feeling?" asks the girl, echoing M'er's similar question.

Tasi smiles gratefully as the two people she knows pick seats next to her. People to ask for things, yay! "Doing all right," she says doubtfully. "Really wanting all of this to be over." A sly smile spreads over her face, as she adds with her cutest smile, " Really wanting a glass of juice." She leans back in the chair, closing her eyes. She may be being sneaky, but with the way her back and knees are feeling, that probably makes sense. Although for unobvious reasons, she suddenly sits up straight again and opens her eyes. "I'm fine, I'm fine," she grumbles to that ever-paranoid lifemate of hers. "No, I do /not/ need to go home." Glare.

With a nod and a smile, Rielle stands up. "I can get it," she chimes as she scoots over. After all, her klah needed a refill anyway. "May I get you anything, 'rider?" she asks, directing this question toward M'er, whose name she's not sure of. The piles of food attract her attention, and she pulls a plate from the stack and begins to collect her usual breakfast, meatrolls and a piece of fruit or two. "Anything else, Tasi?" inquires the nanny as she pours the juice, and begins to shuffle over carefully while balancing two mugs and a plate in hand.

M'er raises his eyebrows a bit, "Seems that you're getting close. Maybe your wish will come true soon?" At the request for juice, the greenrider smirks towards Rielle. "You heard the woman. Juice!" he commands, grinning. Hey, they didn't make him WingLeader for nothing — he likes to boss people around! "Er, me? No, no. I'm good. Suith thinks the food here is infected, anyway — even if it's not affecting people." A bewildered blink goes to Tasi, " Which makes me wonder. What with you being pregnant and the plague going around, do you think you're child's safe? Infants like to get sick or whatever." Long pause occurs. "Do I sound like Aeokaith now?"

Tasi grins at M'er, nodding. "It should be less than a month now. And I haven't seen a single sick human in all this mess. My worry is just how I'm going to take care of Aeokaith and a new child." She sighs. " I guess I'll just have to make Kia and Sainin help me with a lot of it, and maybe find a nurse for the baby." She turns back to smile angelically at Rielle, calling over, "Dear, you're wonderful. A redfruit and a few meatrolls?" This whole asking for things and getting them deal is kind of fun, actually.

Rielle quirks her eyebrow up at M'er. She doesn't need /ordered/ to get Tasi what she wants. Hmmph. The nerve! With a bit of a bristled attitude, she still smiles her sweetest at M'er and turns to get Tasi the food she asked for. The scrape of the plate, and a plink of fruit, followed by the sound of meatrolls dropping onto the plate… whatever that sound is… and Rielle is back, handing Tasi the plate of food she asked for. "If you need to, Tasi," Rielle replies in echo of the nurse comment. "Is Aeokaith sick?" Concern touches her eyes again - all four of her 'lizards have come down with this sickness, and its dreadfully unsettling. The best she can do, however, is leave them resting in her hammock until she knows of something else to do for them.

M'er frowns, "It's tough. It was when Sarah had Rhamera. Especially since, well, you know how Suith is." He rolls his eyes as he recieves mental bantering. "But it all works out well. Sainin will help out a bunch, right?" A smile and a wink is offered to Rielle after her quirked eyebrow. Blue eyes go to Tasi's meal and M'er 'hmms' to himself. "Hey, whateveryouname is — what is your name any way? — I've changed my mind. Can you get me some klah and some sort of fruit?" Meanie.

Tasi smiles gratefully at Rielle. "I'll ask for you, specifically," she says with a smile, reaching out to grab the plate and breaking into a meatroll happily. " She's Rielle," she says a bit reproachfully to M'er. Imagine not knowing this sweet girl's name. "And Aeokaith's looking, and feeling, a bit off…so are Sungold and Arlian." She frowns. "I've been trying not to worry about it too badly, yet. I mean, Aeo's getting more rest than any other dragon in the Weyr right now, with me grounded, so hopefully he'll recover quicker than the others. And Valanth and Aeokaith both have it, so Sainin'll be helping out more than a bunch." Evil grin.

Rielle eyes M'er. Well at least he /asked/ this time. " Rielle, Assistant Nanny," she chirps, smoothing her trousers as she stands up, extending her hand over to M'er for introduction's-sake. "Nice to meet you…?" Her words trail off, indicating she doesn't know his name, any more than he knew hers. A frown plays at her lips, though. "I'm sorry. If there ends up being anything I can do for the dragons, let me know… and… Tasi, can I ask you somethin'?"

M'er peers at the hand a moment before reaching out to accept it in a handshake. "Well met, Rielle. I'm M'er, green Suith's rider, WingLeader of the Sunfire Wing, Overlord of Darkness, blah, blah. You get the point, right?" He then shrugs over to Tasi, "That's good — I hope Sarah helps me out a bit. I'm pretty sure two of my firelizards have it. Maybe more. Suith claims she's sicker than anyone, but just between the three of us, I think it's a call for attention."

A grumble from outside is loud enough to be hear within and Tasi sighs. "Aeo, hush. She's a friend, she's going to help take care of the baby." An exasperated grin as the blue's grumbling subsides, then her focus returns to the people in the room. " Aeokaith insists he's perfectly fine, and that I need to be taking care of me, not him. But I know something's wrong." She frowns, obviously more worried about this than she thinks she's letting on to M'er or Rielle. "Of course you can," she says to Rielle with a smile, neatly changing the subject.

Rielle shakes a couple times and stands. "Well met, then, M'er." is said as she shuffles off to get the food. Clink, plink, pour. A few moments later, she returns and presents the klah and food to the 'rider. " There you go," is said before turning back to Tasi. " Is there something else I can do for my 'lizards? All four are sick, Toast is the worst." Frown, frown. " I've been letting them rest… and I imagine they're probably telling the 'riders more of what to do than the residents. Is there anything else?" Hope blossoms in her eyes. If anyone would know, Tasi would know. She hopes.

M'er smiles his, 'Thanks' to Rielle, but frowns at the question. "I haven't been informed of anything. I thought I'd be one of the first people to be, too. Maybe they don't know much abut it, yet?" The greenrider frowns, "You know it's reallt going to start causing trouble if it causes the death of a dragon." At this he winces, and sighs. Klah is sipped, and h feels the need to change the subject. "So what about those eggs? Kinda nifty, right?"

Tasi sighs softly, shaking her head. "No one knows what to do," she says, wishing she had a better answer for the girl. "And the eggs are amazing. Rielle and I were there for the clutching!" Her final words, though, are to M'er, including a fierce glare and a loud, "Don't even say that!" Rielle can tell you, this rider's oddly superstitious about all this plague stuff. Which is strange, she's usually quite practical.

Rielle frowns and sinks down into her chair with a soft sigh. "I hope my 'lizards bear out okay, though." Yes, dragons. Bad deal if one of them is lost. Except it won't affect her too directly - the 'lizards… hmph. Her hand reaches out and pats Tasi's shoulder. " Don't worry. The weyr dragons are vibrant, and healthy. I'm sure they'll do fine." Her voice is filled with reassurance, shards, even the nanny believes that. The clutching however is a good topic, yes. Thank you M'er. "I like that one white egg, with pale blue…" Rielle murmurs, nodding. That Winter Solstice egg… "And the black ones, those were /beautiful/." Nod, nod. Nanny babble alert.

M'er frowns at Tasi, "Yeah, sorry 'bout that." He peers over to Rielle, then, smiling. "You would like to see the dragon in that egg, right? Right." He grins over to Tasi, "I think she'd make a good Candidate, really. She didn't seem to mind following orders and all that stuff."

Tasi grins, nodding eager agreement. "I think she'd be great," she says, smiling warmly at Rielle. "What do you think? It'd give you a break from the kids. You'll have to suggest an alternate nanny to me, though," she says with a wink.

Rielle freezes mid-sentence, of whatever she was talking about, then looks around. Who, what? Errr. A confused blink goes to Tasi, before a squeak of "… Mee?" Nah ah, can't be happening. Another look around the room. Who're they talking to?!

Rielle swivels her head, giving herself a rather sharp pinch before nodding dumbly. "Y-yes. Yes sir!" Enthusiasm manages to kick in at the end, and she shifts so she sits a little straighter. "I ac—accept." Her tongue ventures out to wet her dry lips, and she coughs, blush rising to her cheeks. Well, guess we won't have to worry about Rielle being late to nannying duty again!

Tasigiggles softly at the pinch, eyes glowing as she watches the nanny's elation. "Well, good." She stands up slowly, leaning heavily on the back of the chair, and looks over to M'er. "Should we help her get set up in the barracks?"

M'er beams at the acceptance, "Great, great." A nod goes to Tasi, "Indeed. I'll go get her a knot and stuff, too. I should start carrying them around, you know." He drains off his klah, and picks the fruit of his place. "Well, then. Shall we?"

Rielle squeaks, standing up abruptly to help Tasi. " No, no. M'er can help me. You need to /rest/ Tasi!" Elation of candidacy aside, she's still concerned about the 'rider. Child-heavy is no good for moving about so very much! Though, Rielle still knows in the back of her mind… if Tasi is set on helping, Tasi will probably /be/ helping, scolding and insistance aside. Hmmph. If M'er won't stop Tasi, Rielle probably doesn't have a chance. Shifting a little, Rielle nods in agreement with M'er.

Tasi grins, nodding. "We should indeed." She finishes her juice, setting everything neatly on the table for a drudge to clear away, and grins at Rielle. " You ready?" she asks, eyes sparkling. This Search thing is awfully fun! "And no, Rielle, I'm coming with. I've been in bed for months, I'll walk slowly. I promise." She grins, but it's pretty obvious that she's not budging on this.

M'er shrugs, "A little walking won't hurt her — isn't it supposed to be good to get exercise when your pregnant? The barracks aren't far… if I can remember where they are, anyway." A blink at this, and the rider coughs, "In fact, you can lead the way, Tasi." Sure, try to cover it up.

Rielle nods also, slowly. "You can hang onto me, also." Rielle says insistantly. She hopes it comes off as meaning, you /need/ to hang onto me. Mmhmm. Rielle looks down. Oops, still holding the klah mug. Nonchalantly she sets it aside, as though she hadn't forgotten, eyebrows arched upwards in innocence. A deep breath as she looks around the caverns with new eyes. "Ready," she murmurs, making sure she keeps getting oxygen to that brain.

Tasi smiles, nodding. She stands up, reaches out toward Rielle, murmuring a soft, "Thanks," for the offer. "Right this way," she says with a smile, heading slowly towards the southern caverns. "So, are you excited?" she asks Rielle the obvious question, still grinning from ear to ear at the fun of it.

Candidate's Barracks
Long and low, this large room angles back into the mountain in a near-perfect rectangle, devoid of windows and hearth. A functional room — the black volcanic rock has been painted with a cheerful mural, with the other walls painted in green and orange thoughtfully, before resuming the stark simplicity in the seemingly endless rows of cots that scatter back into the shadows. A small clothespress sits at the end of each puce-covered bed — yes, puce. Every cot sports a rather gaudy and obnoxiously purple cotton coverlet, leftovers from PranksPast. Boys to the right, girls to the left. Enjoy.
Hanging out on a long wooden shelf on the wall are three firelizards.

Rielle walks in from the South Caverns. Tasi sends a drudge running for a cot. After a few minutes the drudge returns dragging a big heavy cot for Rielle.

Rielle glances around, awed. She's actually /in/ here. /Meant/ to be in here. A nod goes to Tasi as she puts her hand on the rider's arm to steady her. "I'm more than excited," she murmurs, gazing around in shock. Oh. Wow.

Tasi smiles at Rielle, nodding. "Welcome to your new home, at least until the Hatching." She points to the new cot and smiles. "Ask one of your fellow candidates, or one of your fellow nannies, to help you bring whatever you need down here. I'd offer, but I think I weight more than all your stuff put together right now." She grins.

Rielle chuckles at Tasi. "Don't worry, I don't have much." Turning, slowly, she smiles brightly at them both and bows repeatedly. "Thank you," she murmurs. " Thank you, thank you, thank you."

M'er offers Rielle a quick, "Congrats," before disappearing for a moment. He returns with a white knot, and offers it to the newest Candidate. "Yeah, you can get your stuff whenever you want. I can help if you need it. Your chores will start tomorrow. You can pick up a uniform if you'd like, too. Orange and black and pretty dirty, but good for doing the nastier chores in." He hmms, "And, of course, the rules. No drinking, no sex, and no such. I'm sure commom sense dictates…"

Tasi nods, grinning. "If you look like me when the eggs are ready to hatch, you won't be on the sands." There's a good threat. "And again, congratulations." She smiles warmly at Rielle.
