Nayla Is Searched

Southeastern Bowl
This area of the bowl is the highest point of the bowl floor; from here, it slopes down and to the northwest, spilling out to the plateau below the wide gap in the Weyr rim to the west. Various tunnels here lead into the Weyr's inner caverns; the living caverns, hatching grounds, and main Weyr tunnel all branch off from here. To the west lie the stables where the Weyr's runners are housed. There is also a stone stairway that leads up to the Weyrleader's weyrs.
It is a spring afternoon.
Perched on rocky crags about the bowl are four firelizards.
Bronze Nhamarath, brown Morath, blue Decuth, blue Celth, bronze Soquilith, green Iredith, blue Aeokaith, brown Cinestioth, and gold Dhiammarath are here.
You see Gritty-Grassy Green Handprints and Wishbone here.

Nayla walks in from the Living Cavern.

Tasi is working hard, finally feeling well enough again to give Aeokaith the thorough oiling and pampering he so much deserves. Little incoherent mumblings accompany the attention and she smiles at him, seeming to glow with her ability to move properly and easily again after nine months of lumbering around. She turns around as Nayla enters and waves cheerfully, oily hands glistening in the light.

Dea toe dances in from the Central Bowl.

Nayla pauses right before kicking a rock at the sight of Tasi and Aeokaith, and returns the wave. " Hiya..Tasi, right? Sorry, I'm horrible with names. You got thin!" Her eyes widen comically, and she cautiously approaches the pair, her pony trailing along lazily.

Ftoranth walks in from the Central Bowl.

Tasi giggles a little, nodding. "Yup, it's Tasi. You're…Nayli? Nayla," she corrects herself hastily with a smile. "And yes…finally," she says with a relieved roll of the eyes. "I was beginning to think I'd never be thin again. Now I just need to get back into shape, and it'll all be good." Aeokaith gives the pony a half-interested stare, but only manages to keep eyelids open for a second before they flutter closed again as the blue stretches out lazily, relishing the attention.

Dea comes in with Ftoranth, muttering to herself. "I tell you Ftoranth, if you tried to drown one more person, I'm going to N'ano and get us reassigned someplace where there isn't any water."

Nayla cants her head in greeting to Dea, a brief smile appearing on her lips before she re-focuses on Tasi. " Yep. Nayla. I don't think I could stand being fat for nine months…well, more like six, I guess, since you don't start to show right away." Samurai's ears flick forward as the dragon looks at him, but his owner ignores him for the time being. "Your dragon looks like he's enjoying himself."

Tasi chuckles, overhearing Dea. "Having troubles?" she calls over from an awkward-looking perch upon Aeokaith's back. She nods back down to Nayla. "He certainly is…and even if you're only fat for six months, lots of people are sick for the months before that, so it's really not much better. I got lucky, I guess." She grins.

Dea is still berating her dragon who is hanging his head emitting a low rumble. She throw up her hands, " I don't care if you like them. Stop trying to drown them, alright?" turning around, she stops dead in her tracks, she hadn't realized there were people here. " Ohhh. Hello." She shoots Ftoranth a look. "Trouble? What kind of trouble would an over size fire lizard can get into?"

Nayla stares at Dea in utter confusion, but chooses not to comment. "Yeah, I'd say you're lucky. I don't plan on getting pregnant for a long time." Which is good, since she's only fourteen. "So. Um. What's his name?" She nods to Aeokaith. Might be a good thign to know his name..not that she'll remember it.

Tasi laughs. "Oversized firelizards, in my experience, can get into a good deal of trouble," she says wryly. "I don't think I'll forget the day Aeokaith decided to physically kidnap me in the weyr because he said I was too pregnant to go out…he blocked the entrance and told me he'd hate me forever," she remembers with an impressively tolerant giggle. A quick neck pat establishes that clearly neither rider nor dragon ended up doing much hating, even despite his insane protective instincts. "He's Aeokaith," she says with a smile.

Dea sighs, "Ftoranth is such a playful imp, that he's decided that he has to show it especially by trying pranks on them, like drowning them." Waving to Nayla, " hi, I'm Dea. This is Ftoranth."

Nayla giggles. "Oversized firelizards. Cute. But I'm sure they're smarter than flits, right?" she wonders, studying Aeokaith. "I'm sure he'd hate you," she says solemnly, though a playful wink belies her tone. "Nice to meet you, Dea. And Ftoranth. I'm Nayla."

Tasi laughs, sliding down off Aeokaith's side to sit next to him and snicker at the image of Ftoranth drowning anything. "Us poor riders," she says mockingly. "Have to deal with these big brutes all the time." She grins, making fun of herself and, to a lesser extend Dea, quite happily. "And I'd like to see Aeo try to hate anyone for long," she says with another grin. "He's hopeless!"

Nayla lounges against Samurai, who looks to be dozing in the afternoon sun. "Lazy bones," she mumbles to the black pony. "Poor riders? Naaah. I think you guys are pretty lucky. So'm I, though, since Mum's a rider and I've been around dragons for a while. there such thing as a mean dragon? I mean, they don't like eat people ever, do they?"

Tasi laughs, turning to return to her oily work as she responds over one shoulder. "I know, we're incredibly, incredibly lucky. Who's your mum?" she asks, curious. "And no, dragons don't ever eat people. But there are bad-tempered dragons, just like there are bad-tempered people." She turns back around to peer at Nayla, making sure this explanation made sense.

Nayla blushes, looking sheepish. "Didn't think so, but it never hurts to ask..oh, my mum is Slippa. Green Zizth's rider at 'Reaches." She nods to show the explanation made sense, and then cautiously moves closer to Aeokaith. "Can I touch him? Or does he not like to be rubbed by anyone but you?"

Dea sighs, shaking her head, "Sorry Ftoranth is still rumbling at me. Dragons don't eat people as much as they threaten to. Ftors here likes to lick legs."

Tasi grins, nodding encouragement. "Go for it. He's a little under the weather, all this stuff that's been going around. But he likes attention from just about anyone. You might get a little oily, though," she says with a grin.

Nayla stares at Dea. "He likes to lick legs? Umm..that's interesting." The girl's dark eyebrows raise as she approaches Aeokaith, and she cautiously starts rubbing his nose. "He's bigger'n Zizth," she remarks. "An' I don't mind gettin' a little oily. I've had worse on me."

Darcy walks in from the Living Cavern.

Aeokaith senses Darcy looking at him.

Dea sighs, rolling her eyes, "You wouldn't beleive what Ftors like to do." Waving to Tasi, "so how's the little mother to be? I heard you were pregnant, Tasi."

Tasi laughs at Dea, turning around to raise a questioning eyebrow. "I didn't know that," she comments, sounding surprised. Turning back to Nayla she smiles, watching Aeokaith turn into a little puddle on the ground in front of her, rubbing up against her contentedly. "He's small, as blues go, but still bigger than a green," she says with a nod. She looks over at Dea, beaming proudly. "No longer to be. Gave birth to baby Thaisa 20 days ago now." She smiles hugely, both at the pleasure of being a mother and the relief of no longer being pregnant.

Nayla grins wider, happily continuing to rub the blue. " He's like a giant puppy. Very cute." At the mention of Thaisa, she turns her curious gaze to Tasi. "So who's the father, anyway?" Nosy, ain't she? But she's harmless. Or tries to be.

Darcy just looked at you.

Dea shrugs, "Shows you how I keep up with things. Can I say better you thin me? I'm not cut out to be a parent. Don't want to deal with it all. I rather just love 'em and leave 'em."

Darcy walks to the Central Bowl.

Tasi laughs, nodding to Dea. "I know the feeling…Thaisa's gonna spend a lot of time with nannies, that's for sure. For me, it's not that I don't adore kids, just that…well, Aeo and I were both going crazy without flying. The second I was done with the pregnancy bit, I was /done/, and ready to start flying again." She smiles at Nayla, answering, "Sainin. The Weyrminer here, and my weyrmate. Actually, he's standing for this latest clutch," she says with a proud smile.

Nayla stares at Tasi blankly for a minute. "Oh, right. The latest clutch. I didn't know they've been out Searching..Faranth, I need to catch up on stuff. Been busy with my firelizards, though, 'cuz they're sick." She shrugs dismissively. "Sorry, I get off-subject easily."

Dea reaches up to scratch Ftor's eye ridge, her eyes glaze over at the mere talk of children.

Tasi blinks, mimicking wide-eyed shock. "Didn't know they've been Searching? You're kidding?!" She grins, stepping forward to look at Aeokaith for a minute, and she closes her eyes as she and the blue communicate for a minute. "Well, Aeokaith and I think that's a shame. And I bet Dea and Ftoranth will agree. We think you should be more informed about these things." A mischevious grin spreads across her face as she continues. "And where to be better informed than in our very own candidate barracks? Think Slippa'd mind?" she asks, turning to extend this question to Dea, as well.

Darcy walks in from the Central Bowl.

Ftoranth croons softly nodding, wondering how Nayla's legs would taste. "Don't even think about it." Dea warns softly, as she watches Tasi for a moment.

Darcy wanders onto the bowl and is delighted to find some people and some dragons, which he has not as of yet encountered! He quickly trots up and introduces himself with a smile, "Hi there! I'm Darcy! I'm a new baker here at the weyr. It's nice to meet you!" Friendly, he is…

Nayla shrugs again. "Nope, didn't know. I must live in under a rock. Not literally, of course." She gazes at Tasi uncomprehendingly for a minute, eyebrows slowly rising and green eyes widening. "Um. What?" In a state of shock? Slightly. "Hello," she greets Darcy distractedly.

Tasi smiles, giving Darcy a similarly distracted " Hello." She turns back to Nayla, though, smiling. " We're wondering if maybe you'd be willing to stand as a candidate for Bydelth and Miyakath's clutch?" she asks with a grin.

Ftoranth rumbles at Dea. «Awww come on. Just one lick?» "No! Don't enough think about it." Dea says sternly. Darcy is given a nod of greetings. "Besides, Tasi is Searching her. Nayla is going to stand on the sands. I don't want another lecture from the weyrleaders."

Nayla looks at Dea with bewhilderment. "What are you telling him not to do?" Too much stuff going on. " And..well..yeah, I'll stand. I can't really refuse." She beams, finally snapping out of her shock. "Wow, this is great."

Tasi giggles at the widely beaming Nayla. "And Slippa won't slaughter us for stealing her daughter?" she asks with a teasing grin. "Because if you're sure she won't, then we'll get you situated in the candidate barracks, and make sure a firelizard gets sent out to your mum.

Nayla giggles. "No, I'm sure she won't slaughter you. Mutilate, maybe, but no slaughter." She winks teasingly. "So..right. Okay." That's about all she can say right now.

Tasi grins, nodding. "Well, I think I can handle being mutilated," she teases. "C'mon, we'll get you situated in your new home."

Dea rolls her eyes. "Tasi, you better get her under cover before this big Imp decides to sit on her." Tasi nods to Dea, giggling. "We're going, we're going! Have him go sit on Sainin or something," she says with a laugh, waving to Darcy and Dea as she disappears into the caverns.

Candidate's Barracks
Long and low, this large room angles back into the mountain in a near-perfect rectangle, devoid of windows and hearth. A functional room — the black volcanic rock has been painted with a cheerful mural, with the other walls painted in green and orange thoughtfully, before resuming the stark simplicity in the seemingly endless rows of cots that scatter back into the shadows. A small clothespress sits at the end of each puce-covered bed — yes, puce. Every cot sports a rather gaudy and obnoxiously purple cotton coverlet, leftovers from PranksPast. Boys to the right, girls to the left. Enjoy.
Hanging out on a long wooden shelf on the wall are fourteen firelizards.
You see Beau's Spiffy Alpha Male Pad, Ashlee, Den Of The Alpha-Female, Jesus's Omega Universe, The Loner-NonFish Hideout, Aradia's Harem of Shiny Goodness, Xarine's Cot, Nei's Nest, Ora's Beta Fatale Sanctuary, Malek's Cot, Nefret's Gamma Core, Sainin's Cot, Amaril's Hammock, Mlina's Comfy Cot, Xveiya's Dangerously Stinky Hideout, Niara's Cot, Livesta's Cot, Oogly, and A Mural here.
You notice Oralia, Mlina, Malek, Jhishivyl, Niara, Livesta, Xarine, Xveiya, and Jesiya asleep here.
Neiana is here.
Obvious exits: Caverns

Nayla walks in from the South Caverns.

Tasi sends a drudge running for a cot. After a few minutes the drudge returns dragging a big heavy cot for Nayla.

Nayla searched.
