Nanoc's Search

[[logged by N'ano]]

Beyla blinks at Aziza's building, watching idly then planting herself on the ground and lying back, closing her eyes. Don't mind her. Just catchin' some rays. Y'know, before she gets any chores and stuff.

Tstar walks down the trail from the plateau.

Serafa wanders down the trail from the plateau.

Beyla doesn't notice Tstar's entrance. Naturally, since she's lounging on the sand and has her eyes closed. Not asleep. Well, give her time and she will be, but she's still awake at the moment. With black sand slowly working its way into her clothing.

Aziza pats more damp sand on the sand hold as she builds it up even higher.

Tstar strides in, curious, more used to lakes than the smell and sounds of the ocean. Gar may be close, but it's definitely inland. Black sand? She'd always thought it would be white. Her eyes rove for familiar faces and she spies someone… Well, well another starcrafter! She adjust her course accordingly.

Beyla still hasn't noticed anyone. Although she is becoming increasingly aware of the sand that's itching her head. Great. She'll be picking sound of her hair for weeks now. Reaching up to scratch the back of her neck, she peeks open her eyes, but the sun doesn't allow her to see anything.

Tstar chuckles and clears her throat loudly. "How many of us did they actually snatch? Is there anyone left at the hall at /all/?" Her voice is vagely amused as she moves a little closer, though settling in the sand isn't part of the plan yet.

Main Beach
The beach here is of a fine, glittering black sand… volcanic sand, remnants of a long-past eruption. The beach is fairly wide, which is a good thing since many of the Weyr's dragons like to come here and lounge in the sun. The crystal blue waters of the ocean roll up in gentle hissing waves on the shoreline, sometimes leaving shells or other treasures from the sea in their wake. On the north and south ends of the beach, the cliff from the plateau retreats into the forest, and trees flank the beaches.
It is an autumn afternoon.
Out on the pier, you see two ships.
In the water, you see one ship.
On the perch are Deathbycow and Topaz.

Beyla jerks upwards at the unexpected voice, hissing a little as the movement causes a slight twinge in her back. Ouch. "Tstar?" she asks, moving a hand from attempting to shake the sand out of her hair to blocking out the sun. She grins as she comes into a better sitting position, more slowly this time, and looks up. "Actually I think it's all a plot. Starries taking over the weyr. They just don't know it yet." is said in a mischeivous tone. Not that she'd mind a little bit of weyr-domination. That's always fun.

Tstar arches an eyebrow and grins. "of course that depends on all of us impressing, correct?" Her voice is teasing. "Or its a conspiricy for /them/ to take over the hall by removing us!" She shakes her head at her own absurdity.

Beyla scritches her head, not entirely because of the sand this time. "Ah… yeah. That probably makes sense." If she has more time to mull it over, it will, but until then… "As one of my sisters said… everythings a conspiracy. If you look hard enough. Usually. Actually, I remember several exceptions." She shrugs. She never said her family was logical.

Khrome walks down the trail from the plateau.

Tstar grins. "All generalities are false, including this one." She quotes /her/ family. "For now I think I'm going to enjoy a bit of time off from chorse, and see if I can actually manage to get /clean/! First day of chores… first day of latrine duty

Khrome walks in not really noticing anybody right away and walks past the group of people and moves to the water

Beyla picks several grains of sand out of her clothing, grimacing at them. Sand may be warm, but shards is it pervasive. "Well, since I just got here I… ah… snuck down here to avoid getting given chores right away." Heh. Her excuse is that she's still recovering from all the moving about. Honest.

Serafa stands up and walks to where Khrome is close to the water. "Hey you, long time no see" she says, a little awkardly, but still warmly. She offers him a sweet smile

Tstar rolls her eyes. "I got her last night and got saddled with Latrine Duty. I do believe I'm going to go soak." Maybe she'll be clean eventually, but she definitely doesn't feel like it now!

Khrome looks down at the young lady "Hey there!" he smiles "No i haven't seen you in awhile. I missed you."

Beyla attempts to look sympathetic rather than amused. Whether she suceeds is debateable, but be certain she's devoutly hoping for laundry rather than latrine duty. "That's probably a good idea." is said, fairly neutrally, but with a faint smile.

Serafa Smiles, softly "Really?, I spent alot of time thinking" she offers back, raising her hand she he could hold it if he wanted

Nanoc snaps out of his 'sleep', shaking the sand out of his hair. Sitting up, he rubs his eyes a few, noticing that he's exactly where he dozed off. Go figure. Noticing Seffy and Khrome, he makes his way over "Hey, 'bout time we got some more healers out here… those candidates started to take over!"

Khrome nods at Serafa and then looks at Nanoc "Hi!" and then looks at Serafa "What have you been talking about?"

Tstar falls asleep.

Serafa looks at him a little puzzled. "The clutching at the Search mainly, Oh and Nanoc's love life. What have you been talking about?"

Beyla peers over at Nanoc as he says that. "And that's a bad thing, why?" is muttered inaudibly as she picks up a few grains of sand, then spends a few moments trying to dig them out from under her nails.

Khrome hits himself on the head "Oh.. did I say talking? I ment Thinking, you said you was thinking. but I didn't really talk to that many people." he shrugs

Tstar wakes up.

Serafa smiles sweetly, she had wondered where that particular snippet had came from. "This and that, not much really." she says with a dismissive shrug. "Come with me I want to show you something" this time she takes his hand in her own sandy one

Khrome is drug to where ever see is going "Um… Where are you taking me?"

Nanoc shakes his head "Oh, I never said it was a bad thing… just that, well—" No, he really doesn't have a point.

Serafa scrambles up the sandy trail to the plateau.

Khrome scrambles up the sandy trail to the plateau.

Weyr Plateau BROADCASTING
You stand on the broad grassy plateau of Ista Weyr, between the gaps in the Weyr Rim. An eruption long ago blew out the western wall of the Weyr, forming the plateau. The shadowy Weyr bowl stretches off to the east, and the five-pointed pinnacles of the Weyr Rim tower into the sky like fingers reaching to the clouds. West, the plateau drops off in a somewhat steep slope, down to the black sand beaches below. The glittering turquoise waters of the ocean are easily visible from here, stretching off to the horizon.

You stand in the center of the Ista Weyr bowl. You feel small as you crane your neck to look into the sky, at the towering five pinnacles of the Weyr rim, so tall they seem to reach into the clouds. The bowl floor slopes gently upward to the southeast, where various tunnels lead to the hatching grounds, ground weyrs, and living caverns. Across the bowl to the northeast are the weyrling barracks and training grounds. You can see the Weyr's artificial waterfall as it sheets down along the northern wall of the Bowl, its pool concealed at the base of the bowl by an ethereal cloud of mist. West, the entire wall of the bowl has been blown out by some long-distant eruption, and you can see clear out to the ocean from here. The view is breathtaking.

You go into the living cavern.

Living Cavern
The smooth, rounded walls of the vast living cavern sweep upward from an oval base, two dragonlengths long and one wide, large enough to seat every member of the Weyr at mealtimes. The soft blackness of the lava which forms these caverns swallows glowlight, so shelves for glowbaskets abound, dotting the walls every three or four paces and casting gentle greenish light up toward the sparkles of gold volcanic glass embedded in the ceiling. Ancient lustrous tables run along the long axis of the cavern, and at the far end is the raised dais and high table, where the Weyrleaders and their honored guests eat during formal occasions. Behind the high table, the Weyr's symbol is chiseled into the stone: a smoking mountain in black, on an orange shield, trimmed in gold.
Perched near the food are twenty firelizards.

Daeyn chuckles softly. "You mean this horrible, scorching cesspool," she corrects, though the corners of her lips twitch in a hint of a smile. She glances over at Beyla. "It's a Permwide conspiracy they think? As I recall, there have been a lot of starcrafters in the 'Reaches clutches, as well … congrats to you, too."

Nanoc shuffles in, immediately making his way over to the food, having not eaten anything the entire day. A plate is instantly filled with goods and a warm cup of cider filled before he makes his way over to a solitary table near the others.

"Well, they traded me for some barrels of cider. Haven't decided if it's a fair trade or not," Merra jokes, pausing for a sip of juice. She winks at Daeyn. "No, you just don't know what good weather is, my dear. This," she indicates the general area, "is heaven." Recent arrival - otherwise known as Nanoc - gets a smile and a wave.

Beyla tugs at her top, designed for the hothot Ista Isle. "Oh… I don't know. I like the cold. Not too keen on all the heat around here. But I've learned to live with it." After passing out from heat exhaustion once or twice, of course. Follow Merra's look, Beyla notices Nanoc and tosses off a cheerful wave as well.

Daeyn cocks an eyebrow. "Heaven," she says with soft severity, "is a soft breeze off a chill lake, the shore bedecked with frost and breaths of ice, before the world has awakened and all is still." She inclines her head to Nanoc. "Good day …" Shoulders shrug. "But I suppose that's only my opinion."

Nanoc looks up, catching the greetingful waves and smiles, and returns his own to the small group assembled, but doesn't so much offer a verbal greeting as his mouth is in the motion otherwise known as chewing; chewing his long-needed meal. Eventually, however, he finishes, swallowing with a large gulp and washing down the particles with the warm beverage. Now he offers a "Heya!" to the former and another wave is given towards Daeyn accompanied with a "Good day to you too!"

Merra shrugs. "I was raised on the shores of the southern continent. Coming to High Reaches was a shock to my system!" she says emphatically. "Goodness, Daeyn, I hate to be rude, but I'm still kind of worn out from the days events, so I wanna get a nap in." She smiles, the shaky kind again. "Thanks for bringing my stuff, and I'll see you around?"

Beyla grins, smoothing out the wrinkles in her skirt. "I'd imagine. Such a climate change." is said in answer to Merra's comment.

Daeyn lifts her shoulders in a shrug. "I understand, little one," she says, though she can't resist adding, "although I had enough energy to sled on the day I was Searched …" Ahem. "Take care of yourself. I'll see you … and I'll write." She shakes her head at Beyla. "Now, Nerat … that's weather …" Just … don't comment.
Merra won't comment, on Nerat, it's weather, or any other aspects. "Oh, I'm ecstatic as all heck. But you didn't have to come across the continent when you were Searched!" Never mind that it was more like a few seconds a-dragonback. Impulsively, she goes around the table and hugs the brownrider tightly for a few seconds. "Take care, you. I'll write if I'm not too busy…" She flashes a grin at Beyla. "See you when the chores start." Watch out, it's her humor again. And to Nanoc, "And a good day to you." She picks up her bag and heads for the candie barracks.

Merra goes home.

Beyla watches as Merra departs and then gets to her feet hurriedly before remembering she should offer some sort of explanation. "Oh… I've got to go and unpack. I forgot. I don't want to have to do it when I go to bed. Nice meeting you." with that, she hurries out.

Beyla goes home.

Daeyn chuckles softly. "I was never in that much of a hurry," she reminisces, nodding after Beyla and then levering herself to her feet. "Good day … and good night, I'm afraid," she says to Nanoc. "High Reaches - and wonderful coolth - calls."

Nanoc nods his head in understanding and gives a slight wave "Nice t'meet ya and hope t'see ya 'gain sometime." he says before finishing off his meal and pushing the plate off to the side.

Siria bounds gleefully in from the Living Cavern.

Nanoc strolls out of the caverns, and hearing faint footsteps behind, he about turns, only to find the herder from previous encountances right behind him "Ah, Siria, g'day! How goes?" he questions of her, pivoting slightly in his stance.

Khaelyn gracefully walks in from the Living Cavern.

Surupa steps gracefully in from the Central Bowl.

Siria turns her head quickly, facing Nanoc with a look of complete glee across her features, "Hello!" The herder gal calls, seemingly quite excited— like she always is. "Oh, I'm wonderful. Yourself?" is quickly queried of the healer.

Khaelyn edges into the bowl, looking around curiously. The.. people.. are spotted, and she nearly backs into the living caverns again, until a squint at one of the person's backs drags up some familiarity. She edges forward a little more and calls, "Siria?"

Nanoc shrugs "As well as can be expect 'suppose. Been quite busy I guess. All that preppin' for the candidate physicals can really wear ya out…" he comments before turning to the other herders "An g'day to you both as well." he gives a semi-bow, completely unlike himself, but only trying to give a good impression "And who might we be?"

Larisseth circles in and lands.

Surupa was the excited Herder shuffling about the Hall earlier, though now her 'brows are furrowed and eyes are narrowed. She isn't the happy Herder anymore… "Khae! Siria!" Is called out far before Rupa every reaches the other Herders— or ex-Herder as well. It /does/ take time to move across the bowl in such a costume, you know. At the point of reaching the pair, a slender finger is raised towards her friend as eyes take a blazing gold glare: Khaelyn. "I really was quite in the mood the other day, you did realize that? And now…" A hand is waved around the Weyr. "You're here!"

Elle swings a leg over Larisseth's neck, sliding swiftly to the ground with a *swish*.

Kaltia swings a leg over Larisseth's neck, sliding swiftly to the ground with a *swish*.

Her name! The herder called Siria turns quickly to spy khaelyn. "Khae!" She calls good heartedly, quite happy to see her fellow herder. A pause, before she demands, "What are you doing here?" A grin creases her face, quite gleeful at the appearance. A quick turn as her name is said.. again. "Rupa!" Herder calls, suddenly surrounded by hyer old herder friends.

Tstar walks in from the Central Bowl.

Elle makes quick work with Kaltia's bag, and just as quickly handing it back of to her. The rider eyes the people scattered about, mostly unfamiliar. Figure… Search. With a snort, she moves on to the caverns, "Come along. I'll show you where you will be spending the next couple of months."

Wince. Khaelyn looks over just to see Surupa in that costume. "Rupa! Great Faranth, /why/.." She lets it trail off, shaking her head with a sigh of mock exasperation. And Siria is affirmed as Siria. "I'm… uh…. a candidate…" She turns again, looks over at Surupa. "What're /you/ doing here?" A nervous half-smile is sent Nanoc's way. "'Lo…. I'm.. Khaelyn."

Tstar strides in, marginally wet. At least it's got the worst of /chore/ off her! Even if it does mean being salty for a while. Another crowd? She creeps closer, curious at the new arival. "Kaltia?" She grins broadly. STarcraft invades!

Nanoc just stands there dumbfoundedly as he listens to the herders chit chat, himself feeling misplaced, but it's not his position to make it seem so obvious, so he just stands somewhat close to the group, as if listening in before his attention is diverted towards that green rider /that/ one… yeah… her, *shudder*… but nonetheless, he offers a polite wave in her direction.

Kaltia shivers a little from the jump between, before carefully slipping down off the green after the rider, smiling to the others there, a bit subdued. Until she sees someone she knows… Tstar! With a happy wave, she flips the bag to her shoulder, before turning her attention to the rider and, realizing she's being spoken to, "Yes, ma'am…."

Elle saunters with the best of 'em to the Living Caverns.

Kaltia walks to the Living Caverns.

Surupa drops her shoulders in a long and heavy sigh, feet suddenly pause in their usual stride so the Herder may be able to rock back slowly. "An Apprentice sent me word immediately, Khae. I can't believe you! You know why I came to the Hall 'fore?" Of course she should know, though how can you trust a /Herder/ in a /tunnelsnake/ costume. Tug. Tug. "I thought you were to stay at the Hall! I was coming back home, you know. Everything will be back to normal!" And now Khae is back… here. "Unfair." The last word is muttered as Rupa crosses her arms against her chest, golden locks flying about as she shakes her head. "I can't believe this… /Now/ what will I do?" And who will she turn to in order to get this shardin' costume off?

Saria slips down the stairs from the weyrs above.

Saria walks to the Central Bowl.

Siria looks completely shocked, as her jaw falls open in disbelief. "A candidate?" she inquires of Khae, "That's absolutely wonderful!" Siria refrains from bouncing as is her usual job. A grin is flashed to Khae, her lips curving ever upwards, then is redirected to Rupa. "So great to see you all!" Her green eyes flash with obvious excietment— the kind that is usually associated with this herder gal. A pause, before the girl regards Nanoc, "Hey?" is asked, trying to draw attention to herself, "this is Nanoc." A hand is sent gesturing to the aforementioned person.

Larisseth takes off.

Khaelyn lifts her shoulders in a helpless shrug to Surupa. "I'm sorry! But I wasn't even around the Hall more of the time…" She winces at seeing the older Herder in the costume… again. "You should just cut yourself out of that sometime, Rupa, so you won't get stuck again." So tactful. An absent grin is sent Siria-ward. "Yeah… wonderful… Really surprising. Wraeth is… big." And blue, but she won't get to that now. Another nod and smile goes to Nanoc.

Nanoc blinks a few times as his attention is brought back to the pack at the hearing of his own name. Being more shy than normal (or at least lately), he only so much offers a wave to the others, managing to keep his normal pigmentation for the time being upon his face.

You notice Khaelyn looking at you.

Surupa doesn't appear quite in the mood for a reunion, her eyes narrowed before she breaks out into whining. "And I can't get out of this costume! It's too /tight/!" Great. "I knew you would help, Khae. You /can/ help, and the others! It would have been great to be back in the Hall with all of you and now you are gone and a candidate and—" She stops chattering abruptly, turning on her heel to blink in shocked towards Khaelyn. "A /candidate/!?!" That is quite a shock to Rupa, now. "It was just said that you left to Ista Weyr, nothing more…" The Herder trails off, amber optics darkening before she blinks once again and turns towards Nanoc. "Oh.. Surupa." There.

Khaelyn starts wandering again. "'nyways, Siria, Rupa, Nanoc, I think I'm going to be looking around for awhile.. Surupa, do you think you could check back at the Hall sometime to make sure Seif passed my message on to Kirai?" Without waiting for an answer and giving an enigmatic smile to Surupa about her candidacy details, she's off and… wandering.

Khaelyn goes home.

Nanoc watches the herder wander off before turning abruptly back to the others "So…" yeah, he's short for conversation unless he actually has something to talk about. Eyes dance over Surupa's ensamble, raising a hand to muffle his temporary laughter "Ah, need any help or anything? If it's really too difficult to get off, I'm sure we have something back in the infirmary that can help…"

Siria goes home.

Tstar chuckles and follows the new arival, relaxing a bit more herself. One more familiar face. One less person to figure out. "Need a hand Kaltia?"

Surupa still hasn't come over the shock, her eyebrows arched up on her forehead as she watching her friend wander off. "Kirai? Seif? What 'bout those two, anyways?" Rupa shakes her head slowly before turning towards Siria and giving fellow Herder a crooked expression. "Do you know 'nything 'bout what just happened, 'cause I'm still quite… disturbed." Her gaze soon shifts towards Nanoc with a bright smile. "The infirmary, you say? I won't scare any Healers this way?" Rupa can make a well impression of the 'snake, you know. Soon enough, Siria wanders off, and the Herder is alone. In a Weyr. Not High Reaches. Meep.

Nanoc shakes his head "Believe me.. I think that the only things that scare those healers are green, proddy and pregnant riders.. well, they scare me at least." he chuckles, "Ah, but you're kinda cute in that costume… you come from a party or somethin'?"

Aiana strolls barefoot in from the Living Cavern.

Nanoc looks up suddenly at the sound of footsteps, a sly grin coming to his face "Ah, Aiana… whacha been up to lately? Haven't see ya since, well, yesterday?" he ponders momentarily before looking up again and nodding his head twice and turning back to Surupa, he says "Y'should stay in that costume.. scare some of the brats away!"

Tierza walks in from the Living Cavern.

Aiana lifts her brows but comments not on the strangely clad Surupa except to say, "Interestin'" and then looks to Nanoc, "Ah've been about, I imagine yer too busy to loaf about anyhows."

Tierza drags herself out to the bowl and glowers at the others here. They weren't stuck on night duty with a silly cranky baby that wouldn't sleep, were they?

Surupa tugs on the tight coat, dropping her head and just barely choking herself by the movement. "Cute? I wouldn't think that way.." See the menacing orbs upon the hood? Slender fingers find the hood and she quickly flips it over her face, turning back to regard Nanoc with a smile from behind her costume. "It's been this way since the Gather," She murmurs, turning towards the Healer and the new arrivals. "Perhaps." Is her last muttered word before she siddles closer towards Nanoc. "The infimary?" Rupa queries.

Nanoc shakes his head back at Aiana "Nah… not t'busy 'till they tell me I am, and I ain't been told yet, so no, I'm not busy… to uh, loaf 'round." Grinning michievously, he rubs his chin, turning back towards 'Rupa and then back at Aia "Y'think I should help her outta the costume or let her walk 'round a bit like that first?"

Aiana snorts, "It's her body if'n she wants to walk about dressed like that or stark nekkid it ain't no concern O'yourn or mine, neh?"

"Perhaps help me out of it would be a good idea," Mutters Surupa, her hood flipped back to allow golden hair fall free about her shoulders. "I'm more of a guest here and riding a runner like this is rather uncomfortable." Smile meets Aiana as Rupa dips her head down in a nod. "Can help me our without ripping it, Nanoc?" Question and gaze now directed towards the other.

Aiana rolls her eyes, "Faranth… 'nother fluffhead. What on pern are y'doin on a runner in that get up anyhow and then complaining 'cause its uncomfortable?" she shakes her head, "Shards… hollow headed females…"

Tierza eyes the girl in the costume and *ahems* "Gee, I could help you.. I'm a fair hand with a needle and thread."

Nanoc shrugs "Don't know how'd we get y'out without ripping it some… I just gotta ask one question though… how in the red star'd you manage to /into/ that costume to begin with?"

Tierza says, "Well, I could do it, but.. later.. Good luck…"

Tierza walks to the Central Bowl.

Surupa lifts her chin up towards Aiana and her little comments. "Making my way here, that's why I was riding a runner." Herder murmurs, turning on her heel to smile towards Nanoc and then towards Tierza. "T'is alright, I should be heading back 'nyways so I may continue to hide in my Weyr. If you see Khaelyn or Siria," This now addressed to Nanoc. "Tell 'em to send me a note with their flizzen, back home. I would like to know some details." She murmurs before walking away. "Thank you for the help, Nanoc, though I will find my own way. It appears I grew a bit with all the food in the Gather. It'll come off sometime and can't risk ripping it… Again."

Nanoc nods and waves the snake? off "Ah, well met anyway and have a safe trip back!"

Aiana snorts and shakes her head.

Nanoc turns back towards the seagirl at her 'snort' and tosses on one of those looks "Wha?" he questions, shaking his head slightly and placing his hands upon his hips "That's got to be the strangest thing I've seen… that costume—and then she's gonna be ridin' a runner?"

Aiana nods, "Aye, she seems tetched in th' head t'me."

Nanoc rolls his eyes, shaking his head slightly "Ye haveta critize /everyone/?" he asks, adding "Y'ain't so perfect y'self, ya know…" No, she is, really "Well, anyway… s'watch your mouth sometimes… y'never know what trouble you'll get yeself into… and granted your a strong and fiesty one, but ye ain't gonna win them all."

Aiana grins, "I never said I was perfect an' I was just observin' th' obvious." she crosses her arms, "An' I like trouble, keeps thin's interestin'. Dull snore days ain't my idea o'fun."

Nanoc contemplates that momentarily before nodding his head in agreement "Yeah, y'got a point there… days need spark and excitement… can't really get that on normal behavior, eh?" he winks.

Aiana smirks, "Neh! Wouldn't want t'end up livin' the dull life o'hold folk."

Nanoc shakes his head "You're absolutely right! Those sharding holdfolk don't know how to have fun any… maybe ye should teach them a few lessons!"

Aiana peers at Nanoc, "Y'been might too aggreeable lately Nanoc an' ye been actin' might strange like a weyrsport that's been clobbered wit a boulder." she crosses her arms and walks around him pondering his odd behavior.

Nanoc raises a brow "Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" Probably a bad thing, right? "Wait, clobbered with a boulder? Ow…? No, that'll hurt, don't think so… I ain't acting no strage, what'ya talkin' bout?"

Aiana shakes her head and goes to rest upon a rock as she waves away vtols. "Ne'er mind. I ain't got th' patience t'day."

Nanoc stands up straight "Do too! I got all t'patience in all of Pern, I swear!" Wait, what are they talking about again "Uh… yeah. But anyway…" he too, rests himself, but takes a seat upon the ground instead, kicking aside an old piece of firestone.

Elehu quickly but quietly walks in from the Central Bowl.

Aiana doesn't answer Nanoc, she turns her head as she hears footsteps and squints trying to make out the person in the afternoon glare of Rukbat. The motions do seem familiar but she can't place it

Nanoc, too, feels his attention turned towards the fellow healer, but he's able to regognize her right off from his position upon the ground "Heya!" he waves towards Elehu, before motioning her over to join them.

Elehu wanders in rather slowly, nodding to the two people on the other end of the bowl. "Hello again Nanoc. And… Aiana was it? I met you at 'Reaches I believe, a while back now," she says as she moves over to join them, invited or not.

Aiana nods her head, "Aye… " she says slowly beginning to recall, "A month back, eh?"she offers looking down at Nanoc not sure what to make of the scatterbrained boy.

Nevarre walks to the Living Caverns.

"Yes, a month or two," Elehu replies distractedly. She glances around the bowl again as if expecting to see someone. With a shake of her head however she lifts her hands to rub at her temples for a moment. She nods to the Starcraft Apprentice as she enters the bowl, adding another nod of the head to Saria. "Good afternoon."

Nevarre walks in from the Living Cavern.

Nanoc scoots himself back up into a stance, dusting off the well, dust, from his pants and grinning "Nice to see ya'gain Elehu! How's the, uh, well… whereever you're posted at—yeah, that ship maybe? How's that doin'?"

Saria nods in return, arm around a Nevarre rather protectively, and smiles. "Good day to you all," she says, steering her charge toward the Southern Caverns. "Please excuse us."

Saria walks to the Living Caverns.

Nevarre tosses a smile to Nanoc over Saria's arm as she is ushered into the Living Caverns.

Nevarre walks to the Living Caverns.

Tstar nods to Elehu as she enters, being acknowledged after all. "Good after noon." IN one hand she has a bucket, another she has a spounge. Her emerald eyes inspect those in the caverns politly nodding to each varrieng depth with rank. The things you run into on your way to chores.

Elehu smiles at Nanoc and folds her hands in front of her. Probably just to keep them from rubbing at her temples more. "It's going well, thank you for asking. Speaking of which," she adds with a sigh, "I need to get back soon. I was just going in for a bite to eat, then back to the Flying Cloud."

Aiana rubs her nose with her sleeve, "How's the crew o' th' cloud? Ain't heard news o' th' ships lately." she looks over to Tstar and just looks the spongebearer over in an Aianalike fashion, but she comments not.

Nanoc listens into the news on the ship, not that he cares for it, but it's at least somewhat entertaining to hear 'bout places outside of his current location for once. After all, the last time he was away was that little healer getaway and he had actually met a few people on the ship so perhaps it should be of interest.

Tstar arches an eyebrow as they speak of places she's never heard of, she lingers, the latrines can wait… right? Or she hopes they can because she certainly doesn't want to be cleaning them! "The Cloud?" She asks curiously.

Elehu smiles and nods to everyone. "Aye, the Flying Cloud. It's a ship at port here at the Weyr, and I'm the Ships Healer."

Aiana would rather gut rotting packtail than clean latrines like a servant, "There won't be muchleft in th' caverns after the dinner hour. slim pickin's at best." she shoots a look to nanoc, "And No I didn't eat it all neither…so get that wisecrack outta yer head."

Nanoc shakes his head, actually agreeing with her for once "No, I think /I/ ate it all… took quite a heapful I did…" he rubs his satisfied belly, emitting a minor burp "Ooh, excuse me…" he adds in, being the polite thing and all.

Elehu peers curiously at Aiana and Nanoc, then grins at Tstar as she shrugs her shoulder helplessly. "Children," she mutters, a teasing glint in her eyes. "Please don't fight, there's enough food for everyone."

Berwynth circles in and lands.

Aiana glances at Elehu ready to mouth off but then realizes she's jesting and she smirks, "Ye would understand if'n ye knew how wherryheaded Nanoc is. Got th' brain oh a crawlie sometimes." she says looking once more at the mostly silent Tstar

Sya slides from Berwynth's neck and lands gently on the ground.

Sya sidles sideways to the Living Caverns.

Nanoc just tosses over a look before rolling his eyes and sitting back down on the ground, using his finger for his 'artistry' upon the dust, his unique style of drawing otherwise known to others as 'huh?'. "I ain't no wherryheaded." he tosses in, not even looking up.

Danio barges her way in from ::between::

Elehu smiles softly and shrugs again. "I'm sure you two will figure that part out. I think I'll just… eat. No, I'll go back to my ship." For once it a haven in this bowl of insanity. "Have a good evening," she adds, nodding to the others.

Danio twitterpates to the Living Caverns.

Aiana bahs, "Cayn't no one make up their minds hereabout? First ye wanna eat theny'dont..back t'the ship..not…"

Elehu quickly but quietly walks to the Central Bowl.

Nanoc watches the healer off before shrugging "Dunno.. strange.. I'm like that sometimes… hungry one moment and not at the next… dunno, it's weird, eh?"

Aiana snorts, Nanoc was beginning to grate on her nerves and she glowers at him before she throws a stone at a trundle bug and sends it scurrying.

Ivrylth goes home.

Nanoc nearly jumps out of his pants at her reaction "Geez, what'd I do now?" he questions, shaking his head and muttering under his breath "Women. Geez."

Berwynth takes off.

Aiana grumbles "Sharding male. Ye gratin' on me.." she says getting up and plodding towards the weyr entrace, "I'm goin t'bathe…leave me be…" she gripes cursing as she leaves Nanoc behind.

Aiana strolls barefoot to the Living Caverns.

Perched near the food are twenty-one firelizards.
You see Ale Cabinet, Moufles, Sketch, What's for Dinner, Snow, Calandra, Nappa, Sandbox, and Weyrbrats' Fort here.
Sya, Tierza, Saria, Merra, and Aiana are here.

Aiana tromps in with heavy bare feet, cursing and growling all the way…don't say hello or she might snap off heads…

Aiana strolls barefoot to the Northeast Caverns.

Merra saunters in, awake and much more confident that she knows where the heck she's going. Spotting a rider type, a weyrwoman type and a candie type, she heads in that direction. "Good day, all. I'm Merra. Mind if I join you?" Be scared: she's -still- Miss Congeniality. Nanoc gets a little wave.

Sya sniffs saddly Saria's way. "When I was a candidate, back in the day, we did real work. None of this adjusting part. We came and we worked." Whether she's joking or serious, it's hard to tell, but a beam is directed towards Merra: "Now that's what I like to see. Any experience with children, Candidate?"

Tierza glances over to Merra and recognizes her as another 'sister-in-arms' and nods. "Hello, I'm Tierza, or just Tie.. from gar.. assistant gardener there." And babbler here it seems. But really, it's just that she needs klah…

Char moves with slow, deliberate strides, a slight limp marring their fluidity, in from the Southeastern Bowl.

Nanoc follows in after her, contemplating whether or not he should should leave her be, but waves the seagirl off from behind and plummets into a nearby chair as his attention is drawn to the others. *blink* Oh great, it's that greenrider again. Maybe he'll just blend into the background or something.

Saria chuckles, and leaves Sya to her devices with the two. "I'm sure you'll find something for them to do - but just let them /eat/ every now and then?" she implores good-naturedly. "I've got to get up to see the Senior. Good day, all."

Saria walks to the Bowl.

Ford Prefect makes a sudden appearance.

Tierza nods to Assistant WerylingMaster Char, then smiles broadly.. too happy at being here to remain terribly formal. "I was told I needed a physical as well. Are the healers ready?

"Char!" Sya tries to wave, and bumps the baby, who promptly screams. "Oops."

"Nice to meet you, Tierza," Merra answers. She grins at Sya. "Well, I have a daughter, though she's faded into just another weyrbrat, I'm afraid." Thus explaining how said Mer was Searchable. "Or did I just get myself nanny duty by admitting that?" she asks dryly. Char gets a smile, the woman recognizing the rider from the gathering after the clutching. She nods emphatically at Tierza's question. "I'd been wondering the same thing. Do they have their torture instruments ready for we innocent candies?"

Nanoc glances up at his call. Healers? Ready? As always "Uh, I think we need a little more prep'in or something…" Or he's just not up to giving one at that time, being so overworked the entire day. But now they're calling his precious instruments… torturous? *gasp* "Hey now… those tools can save yer life y'know…"

Char strolls into the living caverns, scanning the people there with a purposeful gaze. Her eyes fall upon the candidates hanging around and a wicked smile courses across her lips. "Ah.. Tierza…" She trails off, not sure if she recalls the other candidate, yet. "You…" She gestures airily at the both of them and then points at the gentleman with them, not realizing that he doesn't wear the white knot. "Aaaand.. Oh, wait.. you're not a candidate, are you? heh."

Sya latches onto Merra's words, and extends her remarkly ugly baby — just don't mention it to her, though she'd hardly disagree — and looks pleading. "Please." Her current plan: Merra can become a candidate-slave. "They need to be fed that healer goo so that they don't have babies, too, Char."

Oh, and Sya is noted with an absent waggling of fingers, Char's real purpose for being in the caverns not to gab. However, at the other rider's comment, she smirks. "Apparently, it doesn't work the way it ought," she notes, pointing at the child being handed to Merra.

Nanoc isn't entirely sure the question was directed at him, but shakes his head nonetheless "Nope… t'names Nanoc, healer apprentice up here helpin' with the physicals…" he greets, stifling a yawn.

Char quirks a brow at Nanoc, her hands planted on her hips as she regards the folk in the caverns. "Well, are you giving any physicals, now?" she asks of the young man, waiting for the candidates to step into line.

Sya blinks. "Hey!" She should take objection, but is too tired — or lacking in the brain cells — to try to intrepret Char's words. Or misinterpret her words, as the case may be."Hey, you can't steal my babysitter!"

Nanoc drops his jaw, rubbing his neck a bit before shrugging "Well, uh, I was under the assumption that I was to wait for Journeywoman Hytiaf's go to for those, but uh…" Does that answer your question? Probably not.

Le sigh. Didn't she go through enough of this when Misi was an infant? Nonetheless, Merra reaches out and obligingly takes the child, carefully balancing him in her arms. "Hey, there, little one… Yeah, how's you?" Someone dose her before she goes into massive baby-talking mode. As if cooing isn't bad enough.

Char scowls as Merra ends up occupied with the babe. "Sharditall, Sya, I was going to have her wash Az for me." She sighs and gestures at Nanoc. "Well, since you're not doing any physicals, at the moment, you'll have to do. Coming, Tierza?" the gardener-turned-candidate is asked. "Or do you have some way to get out of it, too?"

Tierza is slugging down the klah, she was up all night with that little boy who decideed that she and only she could ke him clam

Mosiah casually saunters in from the Southeastern Bowl.

"He's evil." Sya recognizes Nanoc, finally — "He hates all greens. Got ambushed by Elle an' me, once." It's a proud smile, now, and she blinks at Merra. "You're really good wit' him. How do you do it?" Because she can't.

Nanoc sighs as he stands up unwillingly out of his chair. Really, he's just here to get away from those two females back at the Hold, and just happens to have the excuse that he's there to give the physicals, but perhaps… "Mosiah! He's willing to give 'em! Really!" Attention is drawn to Sya at that point in time "It /is/ you! GAH! And I don't hate 'em all… just the ones that find it necessary ta torture me!"

Merra glances up at Char. "I'm sorry, he just kinda got handed to me?" she says by way of explanation and oblique apology. "I'll do something for you when my hands are free, though," she offers, in an entirely platonic manner. Sya gets a faint snicker. "Meet my Misi, then you'll know. I had lessons in patience when she was an infant…"

Aiianna Walks, with the silence of a sneaking feline, in from the South Caverns.

Mosiah hesitantly wanders into the cavern, casting wary glances back out to the bowl. A touch paranoid, maybe? You bet. Hands grip the wall as he peeks back out. Nope, no looming draconic presences shadowing him. No funky blue beasts sneaking up on him. A bit of a tremble to his hands as he turns abck about, brushing sweat-wet hands down his shirt. A deep breath, two, a third. Slowly, he continues his progress into the room.

Aiianna has disconnected.

Aiia lands on the floor and her blazing eyes close once more, a fire that shall light soon again!

Char snorts. "I don't want Mosiah," she retorts. "I want you. Especially if this Mosiah fellow isn't even here." She eyes Tierza, impatience apparent as she begins to tap her toe, lips pressed together in annoyance. "Well? Are you coming, or do I have to find another task for you?" she asks.

Sya is still intrigued, and makes only a rude face and a quick comment — "Ber don't like you, I don't like you." to Nanoc, before continueing her interrogation of Merra. "So, how do you do it? 'Cause I've tried just dumping him with his dad, but he got work and so that don't work." It comes out in a rush, but she needs help, prefferably before she drops the kid off her ledge.

Mosiah half jumps out of this leather thongs as his name is bellowed. "What? What? What? Just keep 'em away from me!" Don't mind his hyperventalating. It goes with the territory. Shudder. "Weyrs." Removing his hand from his chest, he peer beyong the grouping to spy, "Nanoc. Thank Faranth. Another sane unImpressed Healer person." Heaving a sigh of relief, he starts across the room, easing well away from anyone dressed in riding leathers.

Nanoc sighs exaggeratedly, pushing his chair underneath the table "Oh fine." Nevermind that he's tired out of his mind, but he's not one to fight with authoritative positions, which he assumes Char is from the 'bossiness'. Wandering towards the exit, he waves a hand "Follow me." He gives a wry grin (or perhaps a cry for help) to Mosiah as he heads towards the infirmary.

You go to the Northeastern Caverns.

Northeastern Caverns
Deep booming caverns spin north from the hub of the living cavern like spokes of some great stone wheel: narrowing quickly, the catacombs of the weyr twist and turn under and around each other, lava pockets and burps now forming the living and working spaces of the weyr. Glows gleam, faintly green and fickle, from the baskets that swing along the walls.
The faint scent of sweet sand beckons off to the north, and the racous calls of gambling and darts betrays the low entrance to the gaming rooms towards the northwest.

Infirmary
This large bubble shaped cave is most obviously natural. Showing sighs of recent renovations and overhaul, the walls are freshly painted and the fittings look quite new. One wall of the cave is covered in cupboards, one prominent one is marked with a black skull and crossbones, a heavy lock bolted to it. In the center of the room directly under a large glass glow basket is a stone bench covered in a padded sheet, this area is obviously the examining table. Around this bench are racks, draped carefully with sterile cloths. A bench against the back wall contains a sink and a water heater as well as some research equipment including a white cloth draped over what must be a microscope. The wall opposite the cupboards has three beds against it with curtains designed to be drawn around them on tracks, a chair beside each bed. The room smells faintly of redwort and numbweed.

Nanoc peers up "What do you mean by that?" he questions his fellow healer "Wanted me? As in…?"

Mosiah's eyes are absolutly huge. "As in, that rider out there… she sure seemed adamant that you help her out. She didn't want /me/. She wanted you." He lifts his eyebrows in question, emphasizing the point.

Nanoc nods "Ah… I see." Should he be worried? Probably. "Uh, well then. WHere are they anyway? I'll be right back…"

Char grumbles, turning towards the Weyrleader with a welcoming, half-uncertain smile. "I was trying to get the fellow to help me wash Aztereth, but he doesn't seem to be interested." She sighs and turns towards the candidates. "Okay, I'll take you two. You can come, too, Sya, if you'd like? Syli's down at the beach, too."

Merra takes a deep breath and strides up to Char. "With all due respect, Weyrlingmaster, it would help if you'd point us in the direction of your dragon," she points out quietly, calling on old calm she hasn't used since Misra was learning how to walk and talk.

Nanoc walks back in, looking about "You guys a'coming or not? Haven't really got all night, y'know… have to get up early to start with even more physicals… 'les ya want to wait till then." Looking at Char, he blinks confuzzledly "Wait, I thought you wanted me to help with /physicals/?"

Char narrows her eyes at Nanoc. "I /said/ wash dragon. Since when has 'wash dragon' meant /physicals/?" she asks, her patience growing ever thinner. Perhaps Syli has been more fussy than usual. She smiles at T'nar. "Would you like to come? We can make a party of it. I'm sure Salbaheth could use a bath."

Tierza having missed all of the confusion, continuos on her course to find food and drink. "May I get anyone else here anything since I am up and headed over to the food table?"

Sya nods in reply — "Fair enough. Ber's down there, too. Convinced that she's cold, thought it's ardly so. And he'll have another kid to play with."

Nanoc shakes his head. Alrighty then. He's officially losing it "Good question. Sure, I suppose I can help y'out if ye still want me to?" he yawns again. Maybe some water'll wake him up a bit. "Where at? The beach? The bowl?"

Merra edges towards the cavern exit bit by bit, as if she can draw attention from herself by being stealthy. There's really no point in the attempt. "So… is the dragon in question on the beach?" She's trying to be helpful, really.

T'nar hmms softly and nods a little, glancing towards Nanoc as he returns, "Me? I suppose. Where you going to go, down to the Ocean or the basin?" He smiles a little and glances towards the candidates, smiling to them before glancing back to Char, "Leading this brigade, then?"

Mosiah casually saunters in from the Northeastern Caverns.

Char chuckles. "The basin is probably the better place for it." She scowls after Tierza and then sighs. "Okay, whoever is coming to help wash dragons, follow me, please?"

Sya goes home.

Mosiah trundles back into the caverns, sans pack, peers about the proceedings. Good, dragons can't get in here. He made it safely into the Weyr's inner sanctum after traversing the gauntlet that is the Weyr Bowl, without a single dragon taking notice of him. He might just get this alive, in not completely sane. Gaze takes in Nanoc once more. A tremulous smile as he moves straight for the hearth. Klah, klah will soothe his jumbled nerves.

Merra sighs and is ready to go, thank you. She clears her throat slightly. "This would work much easier if I knew where we were going?" No one ever accused her of being a genuis at finding things, after all. She edges right out to the bowl and waits for the others to join her, tossing in a "Good day, Weyrleader," on her way out.

Merra walks to the Bowl.

Ford Prefect more or less oozes drunkenly to the Bowl.

Char moves with slow, deliberate strides, a slight limp marring their fluidity, to the Bowl.

You head out to the bowl.

Southeastern Bowl
This area of the bowl is the highest point of the bowl floor; from here, it slopes down and to the northwest, spilling out to the plateau below the wide gap in the Weyr rim to the west. Various tunnels here lead into the Weyr's inner caverns; the living caverns, hatching grounds, and main Weyr tunnel all branch off from here. To the west lie the stables where the Weyr's runners are housed. There is also a stone stairway that leads up to the Weyrleader's weyrs.

Central Bowl

Northeastern Bowl
The northeastern arc of the Weyr Bowl seems somewhat isolated from the rest of the weyr - with necessity, for this is the training grounds for young riders and dragons, the Weyrlings. The main entrance to the weyrling barracks is just north of here, and the ground there is well-trampled and firm, as if many feet, both human and dragon, have wandered over it dozens of times a day. Further up in the northwest corner of the bowl is the waterfall, tumbling out of the Weyr face several dragonlengths above, misting the area in a rainbow glow. On the south side of the bowl lie the ashpits and firestone supplies for the entire Weyr.

Carefully tended, this winding path cuts back and forth from Caldera to the base of Waterfall. It is close, but quite a climb, and cooly refreshing as the cascading water fills the air with a fine mist. Stones and shells line the trail, a stone bench here and there offering respite and escape from the climb, as well as an exquisite view: Istan beaches lie ahead, beyond the fresh-water pools and across the plateau to the sea. Cerulean ocean tosses waves of blue up against the gleaming sands, the shallows alive with life and color.

Waterfall's Basin
The weyr's fresh-water pool flows clean and clear, almost undisturbed by the river that rests here after crashing down from the heights above. This small bay is neatly surrounded by a series of smooth stone steps and hidden beaches, a haven from the wider lake beyond before the water drops further to the sea below.
One gnarled, ancient tree has survived the ravages of time and Thread, reaching up towards the cliff above and the water below. A set of cruide boards makes the climb an easy one. The beach stretches, wide and warm, the waterfall quite a swim distant.

Nanoc scurries in 'hind everyone, or more so, just behind the 'mother duck' and Merra and Tierza for that matter. Looking about, he grins "Hey, this place isn't half that bad… never seem it, I'm 'fraid to admit."

A dragon. A -blue- dragon. Merra can't help but grin. After all, she's from the same Weyr that boasts Pyrene, infamous blue-hater. Mer, however, doesn't hate blues, and she looks towards Mother Goose—er, duck for further instruction, nodding a silent greeting to the blue.

At sight of the trail of people coming down into the basin, Aztereth lifts his head from the edge of the pool and bugles a greeting, the rest of him already submerged in the water.. Syli, already decked out in her bathing suit, waggles dimpled fingers at the folks from beside the blue's head.

Nanoc takes a few steps closer to the blue, examining him with a keen eye "Ah… how do we go 'bout washing him? I mean, I've never exactly done that before… sure, I've given herdbeasts and runners baths before, but, well nothing /this/ big." he motions to the enormous beast.

Sip suddenly disappears ::between::!

Tierza says, "Oh, it's Aztereth!…" She is tickled it's her friend and can't wait to help make him look his best.. all scrubbed and oiled up. "Hey there you beauty, rememeber me? We had a lovely ride from Gar to here." Turning to his Rider she grins, "Thank you Assistant WeyrlingMaaster Char for letting me have a nother chance to make his aquaintance."

Char grins, eyeing the healer and the candidates. "Well, the first thing you do is get in the water, though I think, if you're finicky about it, I can have him come up to the edge and let you wash him from there. Either way, you're going to get wet." She laughs, quirking a brow at Tierza. "Of course it's Aztereth. Whose dragon did you think I was going to have you wash?"

Nanoc isn't allergic to water any, so he jumps right in, tossing his tunic off to the side so that he'll at least have something dry to wear when they head back "Alrighty… do I just… splash or something?" Yeah, he's clueless.

T'nar arrives from the Weyr-paths, accompained by the crash and tumble of the waterfall.

Tierza says, "Something smaller at first" answered laughingly. Not that she minds at all.. and she wades right in to get up close and personal. "Anyone lese?"

Merra probably shouldn't just strip her tunic off ad hoc, but she'll deal with a little water. "Keeeowww!" she yells, practically jumping into the water and wading over to the blue. "Hey, there, Aztereth. I'm Merra, and I'll be one of your washers," she greets somewhat playfully.

Char laughs, shaking her head as she walks over to where Syli sits. "Back away from the water, sweetie, I don't want you falling in," she admonishes her daughter and the child complies in toddling steps. The rider plucks up a bag. "I think I brought enough brushes for everyone." She hands one to each candidate and one to Nanoc and then pulls out a large bag of soapsand. "What you do, is take a handful of soapsand.." she demonstrates with the last brush in the pack, ".. and you start a lather by running the brush in your hand. Then you turn to the dragon…" She gestures for Aztereth to come closer to the side of the pool and starts to scrub. "And you scrub in a circular motion.. like this." She stops and steps back. "Got it? When you've got the rest of him done, I'll let you know how to work on his wings. Don't touch them before then."

Aztereth watches Merra leap into the water beside him and rumbles, amused, as he brings his muzzle down to be scritched by the candidate.

Nanoc takes a handful of the sand, only spilling a tiny amount as he makes the transfer with brush in other hand, towards the hind region. "I'll uh, just start here, I guess." mixing the sand in well, he wets the brush, scrubbing, or rather massaging in slight circles, gradually increasing the circumfrence.

Tierza grabs the brush and the soapsand and lathers just find… even finds a good 'beginner' spot to start working and slowly she gently starts a rotating motion…

Merra obligingly scritches the blue. "Hold on, there, though. I have to help scrub you…" Not that she minds, of course. Char's movements are watched closely. Then the small woman carefully starts in on the dragon's chest. Or, what she can reach of it, anyway. "Let me know if I'm too rough or anything, okay, Aztereth?" As if the dragon is going to answer her.

Tierza works with a serious expresion on her face, even though she is having fun… He, she loves her roses, but it's serious work to get 'em there. A dragon requires certain care and needs… so she just applies the same formulas with the proper new information and 'voila' clean blue dragon!

Char picks her daughter up and blows a raspberry against the girl's cheek as Syli squeals with glee. She grins, overseeing the dragonwashers. "Don't worry, Merra. If you hurt him, you'll know." She watches the proceedings, wandering along the length of the poolside. Her brows furrow as Aztereth's form goes rigid. "What's the matter, love?"

Nanoc drops the brush on accident into the water. "Shards." he sighs, bending down in search of it through the distortion that the waterfall causes within the surface. Hand maneuvers about until it comes across something solid. Ahah! A rock… not exactly what he was looking for. He looks up real quick to make sure no one is mocking him before continuing his search and eventually finding the brush near to the dragon's belly.

Merra glances up, blushing slightly under her remaining sunburn. "Just being careful, I suppose." She grins, adding, "I don't want his alert to be biting my head off, after all." Taking advantage of the fact his head is down, she switches her attentions to said head. The others get another one of those grins. "Having fun, Tierza? The rest of you?" she calls, scrubbing away all too merrily.

Char laughs. "Aztereth doesn't bite. He's a very mildmannered fellow." However, she continues to frown in worry as the blue, forgetting that he's in the middle of a bath, lifts his head into the air. "Three? What are you talking about? Of course there are three people washing you!" Char retorts aloud and then blushes. Yes, she's a guilty party of talking aloud to her lifemate.

Tierza begins expanding her area and swiping him sparkly clean….Waving her brush, she smiles and calls back.. "This is Great! I bet people would pay to do this for a day!" Grins at Char and blushes.. "Not that we should avoid or duties of course….."

Nanoc picks up his brush and continues scrubbing his circles on the rear hide of the beast as if he never dropped the brush or stopped for a minute. Passing the time away, he decides to pick up a little whistling tune he had heard once from his harper friend, though his expertise at that skill is far from professional, more so amateur.

Merra laughs, then promptly gets dumped in the water when Azereth raises his head. She comes up spluttering and soaked from head to foot. "Hey! I'll bet you did that on purpose!" she accuses, though laughingly. Easily enough, she collects her dropped brush and resumes scrubbing, though on his chest, this time.

Aztereth turns his attention towards the fellow working on his rear, drawn by the whistling. He whuffles at the young man's hair and then rumbles inquiry. "No.. he's not.. what're you getting at you big blue behemoth? Just get it out." She flashes a smile at Merra, shifting the child in her arms.

Tstar arrives from the Weyr-paths, accompained by the crash and tumble of the waterfall.

Tierza continues avoiding the wings like an illness, but scrubs right up his side turning and gently brushing his haunches as well. The shades of blue flashing in the sun. She heads donw the fron forleg, making eye contact so Az will be aware of ehr and know she means no harm.

Aztereth is used to baths, but he's not quite used to being surrounded by a group of people who all feel just so /right/. Hips swaying with the weight of the child in her arms, Char makes her way down towards Aztereth's end. "You've never stood on the sands before, have you?" she asks Nanoc.

Nanoc jumps back, a bit startled at the whuffling directed towards him "Hey… I'll stop I'll stop… didn't mean to hurt ya any!" he calls out to the blue. Seemingly surprised that Char's asking him such a question, he just shakes his head "No… why?" he asks, halting on the brushing for the time being.

Tstar strides in, sees dragons, candidates, and the healer, hears the question. My, my she's got good timeing! She puts down bucket and scrub brush and moves into a more advantagious eavesdroping position.

Nanoc slurps Tierza! Tierza is licked /sensually/ all over by Nanoc, his tongue not missing a single spot.

Merra pauses in her scrubbing, sensing just what's coming. And she remembers the feeling of what was just a few hours earlier but seems like days already, when Orbit said that Ivrylth was Searching -her.- Quickly resuming the motion, she keeps her ears open in the direction of Weyrlingmaster and healer appy.

Nanoc slurps Rette! Rette is licked /sensually/ all over by Nanoc, his tongue not missing a single spot.

Char chuckles, sharing an amused glance with her lifemate. "You haven't hurt him, yet.." She pauses as the blue nudges the healer cordially. "Though he says he'd be incredibly injured if you refused to Stand for Quarith's clutch."

Tierza still scrubs but this time with a huge grin on her face…. Nanoc is a nice guy and will be so much fun to add to the mix here. But, in the meantime.. Az needs a bath… So she scrubs away….

Nanoc just kinda stares at Char for a moment. "What?" Ok, no really. "Me? Uh… but what about the physicals… and.. and… but… I— I guess?" No, that's probably not good enough "I mean, I'd be honored to…" he pronounces, not so much in an excited tenor, but more so resolutely.

Tierza turns to Merra since she is closed snd giggles quietly. "He sounds like he practiced from my acceptance speech. Except I think his is more intelligent!"

T'nar glances over and smiles at Char and Nanoc, chuckling a little. Even as he sits, mostly quiet and contemplative, he can't resist the urge to call out to the bluerider, "Az found himself another one, huh?"

Char grins and nods. "Okay, good. And the first chore I'm giving you as a candidate is cleaning my dragon." She sounds far too pleased with the turn of events. Setting Syli down, she points at the wing. "Okay, we're going to work on the wings, now. This means putting the brushes away, because the wing flesh is far too delicate to have anything used on them. We will be using our hands for this part." She pours some soapsand out into her hand and dips it in the water and then brings it to a nice sudsy foam. "Being careful, you rub along the wing membrane, also in circular motions." She demonstrates and then nods at T'nar, grinning. "Indeed."

Tstar chuckles. "Looks like you'll be taking a phyisical rather than giving one." She moves closer. "Need a hand?" Scrubbing a dragon is definitely better than scrubbing latrines, though she'll have to do that later anyway.

Tierza drops the brush on the beach and joins the others as Char speaks…

"Wooohooo! Welcome to this bunch of mixed nuts, Nanoc," Merra fairly crows, grinning broadly. She cracks up at Tierza's aside. "I didn't have an acceptance speech, if only because I gave up hope of being Searched two or three Turns back," she confides. Attention is quickly given once more to Char, and the candie slowly imitates the bluerider, carefully circling her sudsy hand on Azereth's wing.

Nanoc tosses the brush that srprisingly remains in his hand, off to the side, for the time being. He wades his way closer to the others, waiting his turn in line to get his hands on the soapsand. Near jumping at the sudden outburst by Merra, he about turns and nods once "Uh, thanks… not that I wasn't a nut before, 'cording to Aiana anyway…"

Tierza says, "Oh my 'acceptance speech was a '''Hu??? Wha?????' kind of thing." Soaping her hands, she gets in on the wing washing as well…. "Assistant WeyrlingMaster Char, how often does a drgon need or require such a complete cleaning?""

Char chuckles at the whoops of acceptance from friends and steps back to watch the candidates, Aztereth's eyes still trained on his newest find. "This lesson will be incredibly important for you, should you ever manage to Impress. You will be washing your own dragons, then." She considers Tierza's question and answers, "Once a day, at least. As well as a full oiling, which I think Aztereth will get in the comfort of our weyr. In the case of a day when Thread falls, you may have to wash your lifemate more than once."

T'nar chuckles and hops up from where he's at, wandering over towards Nanoc, rubbing an absent hand on the corner of his jacket, "Maybe Az has something of a winning streak going, you think Char?" He glances over towards the bluerider and smirks a little, "After all, he did think I'd make a good candidate, too."

Tierza ears listening.. Az picked her as well… but prior to that she had no connections to these great creatures, so who knew…

Char grins as she regards the Weyrleader, her daughter also lifting wide, bright eyes up to T'nar as she clings to her momma. "He did, indeed. Torey, as well, I believe was his first." She chuckles, rising. "I'd like to talk to you later, if I may," she adds in an aside, glancing sidewise at the candidates.

Nanoc listens intently as Char speaks, tossing the random tidbit of information into a folder in his brain, should he ever have to apply it himself daily in the future. Grinning, he turns a slight angle as T'nar approaches, raising a 'brow slightly as he talks "He picked you too?"

T'nar grins a little at Char's comment and nods a little, glancing back towards the new Aztereth-Chosen candidate, "He did indeed. The beach, wasn't it? I believe it was." He chuckles a little and nods, glancing towards Char, "Maybe it has something to do with him and water, maybe?" He can't help but smirk.

Tstar chuckles, and profers a bow, slight from the waist, out of respect to the Weyrleader.(think oriental) She moves towards Nanoc and asks quietly. "Think there's enough dragon to go around?" Meaning can she help.

Tierza rinsing off, which literally mean going for a short swim.. she cleasr her self away from Az after thanking him for allowing her to learn. Approaching Char and T'nar, she bowed adn waited for a pause in the conversation…

Char shakes her head, pointing at Tierza. "There wasn't any water around when he Searched Tierza, though, now that I think about it, Torey was in the water, too." She frowns, considering this and then smiles in Tstar's direction. "We're actually almost finished, candidate, though you can help the next time he needs a bath, if you'd like."

Tierza says, "with your permission, Assistant WeyrlingMaster, Weyrleader… I am on night duty again in the nursery and would like to eat and rest before I report." Glancing down at her dripping clothes. "And possibly change as well."

Nanoc waves a hand at the general direction of the blue "Suit yourself! Plenty'o'him ta go 'round." he nods once and grins, before turning at Char's comment to Tstar and hesitating himself to scoop some sand. Rather, he stands up straight and just, well, stands there dumbfoundedly.

Char waves to Tierza, giving her permission to leave and then turns to the remaining candidates in the water. "Okay, I think that's good enough. Let Az get by you to rinse off." She smiles at Nanoc, picking his tunic up from the ground. "Come on… Nanoc was your name? Let's get you set up in the barracks."

Tstar nods to Char. "Thank you, ma'am. I believe I will. Especially if it delays latrine duty…" Her tone is not quite flipant, slightly flat. tone. "Which is where I should probably be heading right now." She gives Nanoc a grin. "Congratulations."

Tierza stretches and then meanders back up the beach and into the forest.

Nanoc nods a couple of times, emerging from the water to land, and reaching for his tunic with a grin "Thanks…" he replies in both to his shirt and to the 'getting settled in'.

T'nar smiles a little and nods at Tierza, glancing to Nanoc and Char, "You two are headed back to the main caverns, then? If so, you can go on ahead, I think I might rest here a while more. Nice change to actually bustling around with weyr business."

Char smiles at the candidate and gestures for him to preceed her up the path before turning towards the Weyrleader. "If you'd like to wait for me here, I shouldn't be long…" She grins, her comment nearly coinciding with his.

Leaving behind the waterfall's assorted pools and smooth rocks, you head back towards the Weyr.

Path to Waterfall's Basin

Carefully tended, this winding path cuts back and forth from Caldera to the base of Waterfall. It is close, but quite a climb, and cooly refreshing as the cascading water fills the air with a fine mist. Stones and shells line the trail, a stone bench here and there offering respite and escape from the climb, as well as an exquisite view: Istan beaches lie ahead, beyond the fresh-water pools and across the plateau to the sea. Cerulean ocean tosses waves of blue up against the gleaming sands, the shallows alive with life and color.

Char comes up from the beach below.

The trail is long enough to tire one out and you finally slip back into the Bowl proper.

Gliding about is Ford Prefect.

A wide arched entrance in the side of the bowl leads into the Weyrling Barracks. The entrance seems spacious to a human or a young dragon, but it's a tad too small for an adult dragon.
Char moves with slow, deliberate strides, a slight limp marring their fluidity, down the hill from the bowl.
You go to the Central Bowl.
Central Bowl

Perched on rocky crags about the bowl are Restless, Nymph, Archer, and Wine.

Perched near the food are twenty-one firelizards.

South Caverns
Caverns continue to twist and tangle into a labyrinth of ancient tunnels: from high, soaring, vaulted roofs to nothing more than crawl-space at times the weyr extends deep into the mountain. Most of the walls are the smooth and glossy obsidian of ancient volcanoes, dark but for the fickle light of green-tinted glows. The floor is likewise worn by feet and time to run smooth and unbroken off to the main caverns to the north, or into the dorms and barracks in the opposite direction.

Candidate's Barracks
Long and low, this large room angles back into the mountain in a near-perfect rectangle, devoid of windows and hearth. A functional room — all black volcanic rock and simple earthen tapestries, there is nothing but stark simplicity in the seemingly endless rows of cots that scatter back into the shadows. A small clothespress sits at the end of each puce-covered bed — yes, puce. Every cot sports a rather gaudy and obnoxiously purple cotton coverlet, leftovers from PranksPast. Boys to the right, girls to the left. Enjoy.
Hanging out on a long wooden shelf on the wall are five firelizards.
