Congratulations on impressing a dragon here at Ista Weyr! We hope that he or she is everything that you could want in a lifemate, though this inspiration is just a guideline for how to play your dragon. You are not required to follow all or any of it. The dragon is /yours/. Members of SearchCo have put many hours into the creation of your dragon, and we are excited to see how you develop the personality in your own, unique way. —Saria and Orbit

Clutching Message:

Quarith sweeps clear the canvas of black sand to etch within the malleable surface a frame of warmth and comfort for her masterpiece. The creative forces flow and, with a majestic shudder of her egg heavy form, she produces another work of art - her piece de resistance - Smooth and Creamy World's Best Vanilla Egg.

Egg Description:

Smooth and Creamy World's Best Vanilla Egg Rich golden-white cream and deep russet brown swirl and fleck the gently ovoid surface as it comfortably rests in the warm, fragrant sands. Plain and simple and yet, in its simplicity, elegant; sepia shadows slide and flow in fresh, thick flavor. No bubbles mar its texture, nothing diminishes the purity of this smooth expression of transient ecstasy.

Hatching Message:

Smooth and Creamy World's Best Vanilla egg shivers from behind the protective dunes so carefully built up around it by Quarith, and hairline cracks appear across the smooth surface of the egg. With so much sand built up around it, it seems the only way to go is up, and as cracks fracture into shards at the top, the occupant breaks free. Shimmering headknobs become visible, then scrabbling over the broken remains of the egg come forelegs, and before wobbly hind legs and talons can find purchase, dragonet tumbles end-over-end down a little hillock of the black sand, to right herself with a shake of her head and the sharp, dismayed screech of a creel of protest!

Lady of the Desert Sands Gold Dragonet:

The absolute whitest of gold envelops her head entirely, glittering with a frosty iridescence and accentuated by eyeridges of a slightly warmer gold, highlighting her multifaceted, gemlike eyes that seem alight from deep within. Skeins of muted and mixed colors, like the dust of finest rare crystals, travel the length of her long and gracefully curved neck and its ridges. Delicate shades of pearl, sapphire, vermilion, and jade mellow, and swirl to combine and become one, luminescing as they travel down well-proportioned body. As they mix together they reflect and ripple with the glow of the first sun of a frosty winter dawn and spread outward, their shine radiating onto her wingspan and combining with striations of sunset gold. Sunlight color reaches out over wingsails to overlay the crystal line shine at wings' edges, spars, and tips. Her bulk belies her graceful nature as it gives way to a tail kissed with the same radiant sheen as her body and neck, until it fades at the very tip of the fork to the lightest, honeyed gold.

Impression Message:

Lady of the Desert Sands Gold Dragonet pauses in her search, all else falling away, forgotten, as she finally sets determined eyes upon her *one*. Moving decisively now toward her chosen, she finds the fair-haired, wide-eyed young girl-woman she sought and favors her with an elated warble, fanning her wings out a bit as she steadies herself in front of Hannah.

Personal Impression Message:

Suddenly, and without hesitation, your mind is infiltrated… clearest jade green folds over your senses, obscuring anything but its presence, followed closely by the smell of sweetgrass and the faintest hint of lemon. « Hannah. » The searching of this other mind within yours is brief, as though she knows and always has known the secrets of your heart, and does not need to look any further to know them for the rest of all time. « You are the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, and I am Dhiammarath. »

Name Inspiration:

The desert of Dhiammara, in Maggie Furey's "Aurian". You asked for this, Hannah, and you got it!

Egg Inspiration:

Ice cream… what else? Ben and Jerry's - the comfort of any good goldrider! Well, that and a bunch of understanding friends. Don't ever hesitate to come to me or any of us. —Saria

Description Inspiration:

I used the description of the jeweled desert of Dhiammara as my starting point, and added bits of her dam, Quarith, in where it felt appropriate. I want you to know I read this book cover-to-cover in two days for you! ;) Orbit tweaked it to perfection. —Saria

Mind Voice:

Dhiammarath's mind voice is clear, with no slurring or muddling of her words. She always speaks with a very precise tone. She has a soft, almost musical medium alto voice, quite often touched with a quiet serenity. Her tone is rich, deeply marbled in the gold of her hide, as well as being touched with a deep jade, both swirling together to paint your mind with the rich, clear colors of the far east. Her scent is heady, flavored first by green tea, then lightly touched with sweetgrass and lemon, crisp and absolutely crystal clear.

Dhiammarath is large, there is simply no other way to look at it. However, although she is as large as the largest of the queens, she is still a graceful dragon, whether on the ground or in the air. She is a white gold dragon, as white as gold can be, while still retaining that hint of gold which makes her a queen. On her eyeridges, wingspars, and tailtip, she has a light layer of sun-touched warmth from her dam. Dhiammarath simply sparkles in the sunlight. At certain angles, the white gold fades and sparkles into different shades of red, blue, green and white, all swirling and sparkling together in harmony. The angle must be perfectly right to see the delicate sparkle of multi-colors though, else she simply looks of pale perfection. Her wings are large, to match the sheer bulk and size of her body, when they stretch out to full length in flight, she is a wondrous creature to behold. Her tail is extra long, honeyed tip often swishing about.

You made it easy on us in one way, Hannah - it was simple not to have to choose a name for your dragon, since you had one that fit your desires already. But coming up with a personality for Dhiammarath - well, that took some doing! I read "Aurian" by Maggie Furey, to figure out just what you meant about this land of jewels. The Shakespearean theme of our dragonets made it hard to find a female lead who had the characteristics that you laid out for Dhiammarath, but I finally laid to rest on Lady Macbeth from "Macbeth" for the personality inspiration, but her personality is really as much Aurian's as it is Lady Macbeth's.

We found the Japanese theme really difficult to fit in in the personality portion.. that's something that we want to encourage you to tailor to your own desires, something that you can develop, or not, as you get to know Dhiammarath - but we've tried to incorporate it into her personality where possible.

"Only look up clear; to alter favour ever is to fear: Leave all the rest to me."

Dhiammarath will always be your rock, steady and unwavering, but she will take your relationship to another level beyond simply supporting you. She doesn't like to be questioned, and she may chide you if you should ever doubt her opinion on any matter. Woe to you if she offers you her thought on a matter and you go ahead and do something opposite; she'll certainly say "I told you so" and won't feel too bad about it. She will never do it in a mean-spirited way, though - her most basic desire is to see you find success and happiness in your world, and she will do whatever she can from her world to foster that.

"Pronounce it for me, sir, to all our friends; For my heart speaks they are welcome."

Through you, Dhiammarath will love without hesitation those whom you choose to love, and she will, in contrast, hold a dark and long-standing grudge for those who would ever wrong you. You might have to be careful in explaining things to her, for if she so much as perceives that someone has slighted you or treated you unfairly, she will be quick to judge and slow to let go of the idea that this rider or that holder is not an inherently bad person who should be kept away from you. If any of her grudges get out of hand, you may find her reluctant to take you on a flight to visit that Lord Holder, or you may find her plunked rather undignifiedly in the opening to your weyr - simply blocking /that person/ from having any access to you.

"Think of this, good peers, But as a thing of custom: 'tis no other; Only it spoils the pleasure of the time."

Dhiammarath does not enjoy the 'queenly' duties that come with her birthright as much as some other golds. She prefers to think of her elevated status among her peers as a thing of tradition and custom. That's not to say that she does not have a regal presence about her - on the contrary, she simply exudes royalty - but unlike her dam, she doesn't feel the need to /say/ as much about it. In her aloofness, she will contently, and effectively, monitor the goings-on within the Weyr, of her fellow golds and of the 'lesser' dragons alike. Her philosophy is that a few well-placed, well-timed words will go a lot farther than a long-winded discussion. If argument with her thoughts is broached, she will not hesitate to simply access that power which she has, that of a gold to outsay any other dragon, and tell them their place - but only as a last resort. She'll be friendly with most everyone, but aloof unless she knows them well.

She may not take as well to being 'fawned over' by other dragons or by humans; she doesn't feel it's very 'appropriate' for someone of her station, although she will put up with it to a certain extent. This could cause you some awkwardness, as she may insist on being bathed by you and ONLY you.

"Art thou afeard To be the same in thine own act and valour as thou art in desire? Wouldst thou have that Which thou esteem'st the ornament of life, And live a coward in thine own esteem, Letting 'I dare not' wait upon 'I would,' Like the poor cat i' the adage?"

Dhiammarath has her eyes on the prize, so to speak - and she's not very subtle about it! She wants your success and happiness more than anything in the world, and knowing the reserved person that Hannah is, she may often be worried that you will not pursue what she *knows* you want more than anything… whether it be the love of your human life or simply some material possession that you covet owning - once she finds out about a strong desire of yours, she will nag you about it with little pause until you either /do/ the thing, /get/ the thing, or she is convinced that you've truly stopped desiring that thing, whatever it may be.

"Come on; Gentle my lord, sleek o'er your rugged looks; Be bright and jovial among your guests to-night."

Dhiammarath's preferences for males will likely run to bronzes. She, a lady of noble breeding, wouldn't have time for blues and browns when it comes time to mate; although when not proddy, she will be a fast friend to all her kind, easily winning any coloured dragon over to her favor, whether genuinely or to foster some grander plan of hers.

"That which hath made them drunk hath made me bold; What hath quench'd them hath given me fire."

Dhiammarath in flight will be a beauteous thing to behold. Whether in sunlight or moonlight, her form will iridesce with the jewel-tones of her hide and will always be an impressive sight, even for those who have seen her many a time. The blood of the herdbeasts as the bronzes blood their kill will, indeed, set them drunk with lust, as the quote implies; Dhiammarath will radiate even more with her unique coloration when she's blooded her kill; her hide may seem to glow with reddish overtones at these times, because of her lighter-than-normal hide tone.

"But screw your courage to the sticking-place, And we'll not fail."

Above all, Dhiammarath is loyal and unwavering to you, to your finer points and faults alike; the former she will laud with great zeal, to you or anyone else who will listen, if the time is right, while the latter, she'll carefully tuck into a fold or a corner of the fabric of your bond, putting them aside to be brought to light only if it's truly needed. She will keep your counsel, and be your most avid defender for all time.
